Hey Guys I just bought a Infared Heater sorta like the Edenpures but a different company its a Heat-A-al gas furLot Infared Furnace... I bought this to supplement my exsisting nature gas furnace....
My question is have any of you actually bought, used, and seen a difference in their energy bills or did I throw money out the window buyin one of these?
Second question the heater is always on and blowing air it just depends on what you set the heat at how hot it blows out...... if usin both heater and my gas furnace what temp should i be setting the heater at.... any comments, suggestions are helpful

In my opinio - okay? My opinion.
They are great for keeping a room, or a couple of rooms warm. No 2 ways around it - they use electricity.
My house: Hot water heat. 4 zones - 2 on the main floor, 2 upstairs. Won't even discuss upstairs - it's my daughters bedroom, my son's empty bedroom, and a huge room. My daughters room has the thermostat for her room and the empty bedroom. I have it set for 65, starting at 8 pm - going down to 62 from 7 am to 8 pm. (okay, I did discuss the upstairs - my bad)
Down stairs - we have a thermostat in our bedroom, and one in the family room. My wife feels the need the keep the family room at 72 or so. The thermostat is set - for the hours we are in that room - for 66. Our Eden pure heater keeps it nice and warm - as far as I'm concerned.
However, the thermostat for that room also controls the kitchen, dining room, and bathroom - which are located at the other end of the house. Consequently, we pay for electricity to run the heater for the family room, which turns the furnace off for the rest of the downstairs (aside from our bedroom - which is set at 62).
Does it save us money? I doubt it. It does make the kitchen and dining room seem frigid though. I've told my wife she uses it wrong - but that gets no where.
Now, keep in mind, I sleep in shorts and a t-shirt, with a sheet on me. Cold doesn't bother me. My wife sleeps in long pants, socks, long sleeve shirt, electric blanket, sheet, AND comforter. (trust me, I've many times told her I could sleep outside with that comforter and not have any worries about being cold)
I doubt, for US, the space heater saves us any money. For someone that has a smaller house, heats only one or 2 rooms with it - it very well might save on the gas bill.

I used my oil filler radiator heaters last year, and will again this year.
They did a great job of helping heat the bedroom level of my house, and allowed me to lower my thermostat from 70 to 65 at night.
My electric bill went up by like $10-15/month. My Natural gas bill never went over $225.
My mother, is a similar sized house, with similar insulation, had a $400 bill.

Dang - you must be cold blooded. You kept your thermostat at 70? Even at night?????? And you feel lucky to have been able to turn it down to 65?
Unless we have company coming over - the highest ANY of our thermostats is set is 67 - usually 66. Our bedroom is 62.
With our friends there's a running "joke" - if you're going to Arch's house in the winter, dress like you would at home, but bring extra clothes to put on when you go in his house.

If you use it right, it might. But it hasn't saved me a penny I'm sure.
It makes my wife happy, as she sits and has it blowing on her, while she's covered in a blanket, watching tv. And I sit 8 ft. away in nylon pants and a long sleeve T.

we keep our thermostat on 73, 24 hours a day. last year our highest gas bill was $80, so we will continue to keep it at 73. have a 5yo with asthma and it seems to help keeping it warmer.

You are lucky. Just got the propane tank filled yesterday again. $384. For a month.
Hopefully we'll be siding our house next spring/summer - tear the old wood siding off and see if this place even HAS insulation, let alone enough. It's crazy.
