Cardinals released CB Brandon McDonald.

A starter with the Browns the past two seasons, McDonald's stock has fallen fast. He was behind Trumaine McBride and Michael Adams on the Cardinals' depth chart.

Shocking.

What? No, what are they thinking? What a wasted waiver wire pickup. The coach and/or GM is an idiot.

Definitely, it's all his fault. Oh, and besides, he turned me into a newt.

DA will hold his own as a back up. IMHO he is a quality back up QB just not a starter.

just think of DA as this.. a poor man's Jon Kitna... Heck of an arm but just can't win... Anderson will be in the league for another 2-3 years before teams finally figure it out.

I agree... and QBs are hard to find... and he does have a decent pedigree and will live off of that Pro-Bowl season for awhile.

Just goes to show ya, one man's trash is another man's...uh....trash.

Hold on...that's not right.....

Kid had potential but was rushed in his development. He had no place being a starter as quick as he became one. I wish him the best as he definitely has some athletic gifts but he needs to progress on the mental side of the game. At this point in his career, it may be too late.

No he just needs to learn to tackle, the kid is a whimp.

I don't know if this was a wide-spread opinion - but did anyone else think to themselves oh so long ago that with McDonald/Wright we had a modern version of Dixon/Minnifield right before our eyes? That this couldn't possibbly go wrong?

LOL. Man was I off on that one.

i think the biggest thing to take away from this, as fans, is that no player that we have released has ever proved that the release was a mistake. people freaked out when we let chaun thompson, sean jones, martin rucker, brandon mcdonald go and we traded away players like winslow, quinn, and edwards (though edwards was more trade value than losing him as a player) but none of these players made us miss them and certainly, none of these players performed after we let them go. it's a lesson here. our staffs aren't complete idiots. if you get let go by cleveland, you've gotta be pretty bad. makes me feel that much worse for crennel for what a crappy shot he had as our hc.

how do we learn from this? stop flipping out that we released james davis.

I honestly think I would take him over Wright at this time.

Wright just looks totally lost to me. He's got the same look Chuck Knoblach had in his eyes.

I agree with you except for K2 and Chaun Thompson. K2 had a great season last year, though it remains to be seen if he can keep it up. Thompson was one of our best special teamers and we missed him.

But, overall, I agree.

well i thought about k2's production in that sense but he was their only target and to this day, can almost never practice because of his knee issues. that's why i lumped him in with the others.

i don't think we miss chaun thompson in light of blake costanzo and jason trusnik but, admittedly, i don't follow the special teams LBers much so you could be right.

Back in 2007 I thought this as well. I guess this is just another case of fans overvaluing their own players.

1. He was a 5th round pick... those are the ones you hope you find a keeper by luck, but don't have much expectation of them in reality.

2. Draft picks in general even 1st round, are hit or miss. hence the term "Draft Bust". No one knows which players can make the transition and which can't.

To be fair to savage .. mcdonald was more effective than Jamarcus Russell ... but then I remembered that I read in multiple sources that Savage tried to trade up and pick Russell .. was Phil savage really that bad? And the fact that guys like Brandon McDonald only looked good because our cupboard really was so bare?

Yeah, he was horrible...because all 5th rounders do more in this league than McDonald...and getting Rogers for a 3rd and Bodden was horrible too...he also drafted guys like Rubin and Vickers in the 6th...what a hack, we were much better off with Mangini/Kokinis the year after
