I don't watch basketball at all and would be all-in for a NHL team.

I say keep the core. There's a good chance we don't make the playoffs with who we have so we would still have a shot at the lottery. I don't know if there's any true stud prospects that for sure will enter the draft so it might not be worth it to tank.

i don't think there's a right or wrong answer here, just a philosophy.

one can point that the cavs tossed away one year to get lebron and be a contender a few years later.

but one can also point to teams that have sucked and sucked and sucked and failed at the lotto game, and i am looking right at you, new york.

boston tried tanking to get greg oden a few years ago and whiffed big time, and lucky for them kevin mchale bailed them out by handing them a hall of fame player.

chicago got derek rose by beating the odds, they had the worst chances of landing the #1 pick and ended up getting the correct combination, they barely missed the playoffs and instead got a franchise point guard (d-rose is top 5 pg in the league, easily)

i go back and forth, part of me says, start the year out playing to win, but i think eventually it's gonna get to the point where they won't be able to make the playoffs, and i think you have to try and get rid of jamison or mo. and maybe throw in jj if there is a deal that can bring you another high pick back.

getting rid of of jamison is going to be tough, he's on the books for 2011-2012, he appears to be really banged up and the season hasn't even started, and he's past his prime. he's gotta be playing well for the cavs to have any chance to deal him. i think they are stuck the whole year with him.

as far as jj goes, i only include him in a deal that is going to net us back a high pick. otherwise i think we continue to develop him. i don't know if he's ever gonna be a starting caliber 4, but he's definitely got a future as a rotational 4.

the other thing that will work against those that want this team to tank, is that byron scott ain't gonna tank. he and dan gilbert at the top will make it hard for this team to finish in the worst 2 or 3.

Boston got so lucky getting the big 3 like that, no way that happens with us.

We have a fairly young team, it would be tough to give up on some of the younger guys with some good upside like jj. I would hate it if we traded Mo. The way he talks about how he loves playing for us and was devastated when Lebron left, it's tough to get rid of a guy who actually wants to be a Cav.

Didn't know we have Samardo Samuels. I liked him a lot in college. Watching him in the big east he was pretty dominant down low. I know the pros is so much different and most good college players amount to nothing in the NBA but maybe he can be a good one for us.

mo is my favorite cav, i love his passion, i loved him when he first came over, kinda disappointed in his play, but i think the way he was after the lebron thing made me like him more. he's a passionate guy, he isn't afraid to wear his emotions.

i also think he got a bit of a raw deal from the fans on his postseason play, i thought lebron put him in tough spots (and i was saying this well before he bolted for miami) you can't fault mo or anyone else, when lebron holds the ball for 22 seconds and dishes it off to you, and you have no choice but to throw up a shot with someone in your face. happened all the time.

but i have to admit, if the right deal is there, i think you have to deal mo, you have to put feelings aside.

i don't think you deal mo just to deal him though, i would expect something back. i'm ok with his salary.

jamison? you deal him any chance you can get. class guy, but he won't do this organization any good right now. hopefully he can play well enough to where the cavs can send him somewhere where they need him, and maybe get something in return.

Cleveland should be calling Nashville for their NHL franchise and offering the Cavs. Although, I'm sure Columbus has a contract with the NHL so no other franchise can be moved to Cleveland/Cincy to spoil their rights to Ohio. Meh....no matter. I'm done.

2 nhl franchises within of 150 miles of each other in the same state? Yeah that's not gonna happen.

yeah with columbus there i just don't see it happening.

cleveland, over time, would grow to love nhl hockey and nhl hockey players. down to earth, hard working guys. very approachable.

it almost seems like a match made in heaven when you think about it. and if you had an owner like dan gilbert behind the team i would almost guarantee success.

same format as the nba except that it's not a huge shocking thing if an 8 beats a 1 or a 7 beats a 2. it's happened a few times just in the last 10 years (edmonton 06, philly last year)

i think the 8v1 upset has only happened twice in the nba (denver back when it was a 5 game series, correct? and the warriors a few years ago)

Well, we're not going to be able to trade for superstars. We're not exactly a desirable location for players.

The team we have now isn't going to win, so keeping this team together and being an 8 seed every year isn't going to accomplish much.

The NBA is the only sport that I think the right approach is to tank a season and get a Top 5 pick is the way to go.

If we end up with a top 5 pick, we're looking at Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, Enes Kanter, Kyrie Irving, Terrence Jones, Jared Sullinger.

I think that's the way to go.
