This isn't a "we're ok because there are other teams who are struggling, too" thread. This is just a general league observation.
There are some surprises out there, both teams with more wins than I expected and teams with more losses than I expected.
For example, I really thought the 49ers were going to be the toast of the NFC West.
And I'm pretty sure all the networks hoped that Dallas was going to go undefeated.
And I know I never expected the Rams to win a single game.
What about you guys?

1. Parity in the NFL. I've seen a lot of boring games this season, not much has excited me. I've seen more entertaining CFL games in 2010 than NFL games.
2. Shocked but happy Dallas is 1-4. Geez the Pack started 3-0 but lost at home today to Miami (3-3 now). The Bears lost to Seattle at Soldier Field, I thought they were gonna be better than they have been. Hell even the Rams are in the NFC West picture (man do we play in a tough division).

You just never know in today's NFL.
I was really hoping the Vikings would lose and Queen Favre would have another subpar game. I'm sure Jerry Jones is furious right now. It seems like the Cowboys thought it was their birthright to play as the home team in their stadium for the Super Bowl.

typical nfl, you can't count on anything every week. the parity is almost too much..
i hate the jets, but i am impressed with them and sanchez (although their win today was total trash)
the nfc north might be the most overrated division in football, that was supposed to be good, after a few weeks people were talking about the vikes, bears, and packers being title contenders. the bears are the biggest frauds in the nfl, by far. the browns could beat them.
yeah the 9ers are everyone's darlings every preseason and then they go out and lay eggs all over the place, i don't think singletary is that great of a coach. the nfc west is a joke and they should win it by default, but they aren't that great of a team and he's not that great of a coach. good player doesn't equal good coach.
houston was also one of those preaseason darling teams but it seems like they are shaking that title off, they are still going through growing pains but seem to be turning the corner. they're a solid football team.
eric mangini > wade phillips, and it's not even close. with what eric has and with what wade has? it's laughable.
i have a feeling the giants are gonna be there at the end of the season, kinda like 2007.
the eagles have ruined several straight bets and teasers all year. i'm tired of them.
i feel for buffalo. and carolina is probably the second worst team in the league. if andrew luck does come out he'd be a great thing for that city.
i really hate the san diego situation. i know their gm is a douche, but i hate that guys under contract aren't reporting for camp, and now aren't playing games. that is an absolute joke. i have no problem with rookies holding out because they aren't under contract but once you sign your deal that's it.

KC and Matt Cassell is I think a big surprise. Even though they lost to day to Houston who has had a very good start, but will see how they do in December. I'm not as surprised as most about the Rams Having 3 wins already, because with Bradford they have a QB al be it a rookie, but he is maturing with each game. 49ers I thought were primed to have a break out year :confuzed: How about Chad Henning and Miami? They look like they are a team that will be in the play-off race. NO with two losses already are finding it tough being World Champs. Nice Banner Ammo

McNeil and VJax weren't under contract. They both fulfilled their rookie contract and were offered RFA tenders. They both declined to sign their tenders because they believed they deserved more money.

The league is readjusting again... granted you still have people who continue to play strong... but it's shaking off another dynasty. All the teams right now are playing hard.
KC is looking exactly how I thought they would (I knew they'd be competitive). Everyone thought it'd become "NE West" and they're showing it.
Moreover, I'm still impressed with New England (however I don't think they'll hold up through the long run). The sheer fact they're winning with guys you've never heard of is great fun. (Reminds me of the O they won with against the Rams in '01-'02)
Also, one of the biggest themes... even in Fantasy... is the emphasis of solid QB play and what it can do for your team. One great example is Arizona... they go from a playoff contender to a team that can't stay on the field. In that same sense Sam Bradford is putting up good numbers and have already made that team look twice as good.
I just discovered NFL Redzone and it's like crack. I swear, I've never had this much fun.

San Diego fans don't get frustrated. They just move on to their 2nd teams... I love picking on Charger fans.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

better words: poor management.
Playing hardball cost them McNeil for 6 weeks. They could have payed the guy, and had them on the field. Their problems are of their own making.
Finally, The Maskedman has come back, to the true Cleveland Browns Message Board.

...The Bears lost to Seattle at Soldier Field, I thought they were gonna be better than they have been.
The Bears are frauds. They should have lost to the Lions with CJ's non-TD catch. And their MNF against the Pack was sloppy and really, the Pack lost that game with too many turnovers and a questionable call at the end (they let the clock run down so Chicago could kick a FG instead of letting them score and getting the ball back). They really should be 2-4. And of those two wins, they barely beat Dallas (1-4) and Carolina (0-5).
Their O-line is amazingly awful. Like early 2000's Browns awful, maybe worse. Cutler can't go two passing plays without getting sacked or chased. He'll get injured again soon.
I hope they turn it around though. They have the division lead with already beating the Pack and Lions (Vikes coming up later).
Of their entire roster, I want Briggs on the Browns. Dude is a monster! I know he's a Bear for 4 more years and by then he'll be nothing....but man, he's good.

The Chiefs are a surprise to me.. as are the Rams...
I thought the cowboys would be better than what they've shown so far. Same with the Vikes.
New Orleans not dominating isn't surprising really.. How often does a team win a superbowl and comeback the following year to dominate teams.. it happens, but not that often.
Didn't expect chicago to be as good as they appear or the lions for that matter.
Buffalo, Jets, Pats, Ravens, Steelers are all pretty much what I expected..

I expected the Cowboys to crash this year. They were one of my teams on the decline.

Colin Cowherd, who I can usually only stand for a good 5 to 10 minutes before turning off, gave props to the Browns first this morning while talking about how competitive and hard to predict the league is this season. Used the Lions as an example, too. He said the Browns are always showing up, punching teams in the neck and making them work for their wins. Even w/ a rookie QB's first start agains the Steelers' D.

I will say that I absolutely revel in the fact that the Cowboys are struggling.
I've always liked the Eagles, so I naturally don't like much of the rest of the NFC East.
But the Cowboys remind me of Notre Dame. They're always going to be on TV and they're always going to be a media focus no matter if they're undefeated or haven't won a game in 20 years.
If Dallas wins its next game, you KNOW the media is going to be all over their junk. "Dallas has turned the corner. They may still make the playoffs and will likely win the Super Bowl and we'll all want to sleep with them."

j/c,...They don't really "want" parity, but every team at 8-8 would be a thrill, if you ask me.

Just like to say, Jacksonville, in that game last night - worst team I've seen this year.
Wow they're bad.

They are 3-2, leading the division and have played the "tough" part of their schedule.
Wins over San Diego, Cleveland, San Francisco.
Losses to Indy and Houston.
Their upcoming games....
Jacksonville Buffalo Oakland Denver Arizona Seattle Denver San Diego St. Louis Tennessee Oakland
They'll be favored in every game except for @Denver, Tennessee, San Diego.
