Too many people think of it as strictly a sports show, and that's the problem.
If KNR did all sports shows they wouldn't be profitable. Their lineup used to be all Papa Prune Juice (Brinda) clones. They suffered.
They're a sports marketing company first, radio company second.
The non-sports stuff was actually fun to listen to. I've never had a problem with that. It was like 2 or 3 fellas just hanging out at a bar shooting the breeze about whatever, including the local sports teams. It was casual and I could relate.
Now it's just pre-programmed plugs and then they sit around and talk about the product of their sponsors. Its no longer casual. Normal dudes don't sit around and talk about the great deal they got at the local p.o.s. Hyundai dealership or the new windows they are going to install. They now only talk about this stuff because they are PAID to do it. It's very fake and no relatable anymore.
I'd say KNR is now just MARKETING first, then entertainment...then whatever is left over is for sports.

WKNR used to be my favorite daytime radio to listen to at work and when I'm driving. But I haven't listen to it for several years now for all the reasons people on here have mentioned. Mark my word, there WILL be a day when players will wear advertising on jerseys in our country too. Quote:
The one that gets me is cable TV.
Pay $80-100/month for their programming ..... and get commercials on every single channel to boot ..... PLUS other channels that are nothing but advertising/selling you stuff.
That's a racket for sure.
Yeah, and we can't have NFL Network on Time Warner because it's not in the best interest of Time Warner's customers; although an abundance of shopping channels and Paid Programming is?
And in the middle of a mystery/drama movie, at the most suspenseful moment, an animated ad announcing a comedy sitcom rolls across the bottom of the screen and hangs in the corner while the actors strike a pose and the text reminds us what time the show will be on as if we give a crap.
I'm too old school for all the advertising. I expect to tune in to a radio or TV and get what I tuned-in for. Not a bunch of harping of products.

I can't imagine them being syndicated. My guess is that it was sarcasm on their own behalf. However, Rizzo, is now a regular fill-in for Jim Rome when he is on vacation.
I don't work in radio, but I am close with several folks who do ... being a Clevelander, I get a half dozen calls from people when they fill in for Rome asking if they won a contest or something.
No exaggeration.

Yeah WKNR can be annoying. Reghi is the worst IMO. The guy uses "big words" wrong and just doesn't have the grasp of the english language. Sometimes he just sounds silly and dumb trying to use words and slang. He is hilarious to hear when he is mad lol.
When I get off of work at 5:30AM munch is on live for an hour or two and I usually listen to him or flip to Wills on WTAM. As far as the RBS is concerned,,it's tolerable to listen to but only barely. Rizzo overdoes it most times and like everyone else said I am tired of hearing about Joebees, window nation, etc. That is what commercials are for not during your on-air time. Hammer can be entertaining but also extremely annoying dropping callers and taking his hate for OSU over the top all the time. Yeah it may make for great radio but when your in a market where the Buckeyes are the majority of peoples favorite teams you don't hate like he does. I mean it's good to have a different view point but again he takes it too far. And I agree Savrina just takes up space,,she sucks.
1540 KNR2 is really the other alternative sports programming outside WTAM 1100 but they are more talk. I would love for Cleveland to have another talk/sports format on FM like Akron does with WNIR I believe it is. I think that is the station Bob Golic has his own show on. When I lived in Akron I used to listen all the time and it's mostly local except Tom Leykis in the evenings (I got hooked, loved that show)
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!
