Remember how we posted last night that former Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh – he of the $7 million guarantee – likely would end up in Oakland or in Washington. Well, we were close. He’s going to Baltimore.

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com , who’s been on quite a tear the past couple days, is reporting Houshmandzadeh and the Ravens have reached agreement on a one-year deal that will pay him $855,000 (the Seahawks have to pay him the rest of his guaranteed money).

In an interesting twist, Houshmandzadeh will be on the field when New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis takes his first game action of the 2010 season Sept. 13. Anquan Boldin is Baltimore’s top WR, but Houshmandzadeh should fit in fine with reliable WR Derrick Mason and TE Todd Heap. I imagine Houshmandzadeh will take a good chunk of Mark Clayton’s work in those three-receiver packages.

This isn’t the fastest or the youngest WR corps in the NFL, but the Ravens front office has given QB Joe Flacco some pretty good weapons. Houshmandzadeh will add his specialty into the mix, making tough catches across the middle and grabbing receptions that give his team first downs.

They are loaded on offense.

Loaded with old wide receivers. Boldin will be 30 in October and is injury prone. Derek Mason is 36. And Houshmandzadeh will be 33 in 20 days.

The scariest part of the Ravens offense is Ray Rice running behind their O-Line.

guess the Ravens and Redskins are so close that the Redskins have rubbed off on them with the big name free agent additions that are destined to blow up.

Congrats Ravens on adding a true team cancer.

Unfortunately, the Ravens also have a real team leader and enforcer in Ray Lewis who seems to keep everyone in line.

Why can't we ever sign a legit veteran reciever? Engram is not a legit threat at this point in his career. And was let go.
Old or not.
I think the Browns need another reliable wideout somewhere on the field.
Housh in the slot would have been great IMHO.
In the very least split time with Stuckey.

Einstein could not even fathom the mathematical improbabilities of the Browns woes.

the ravens are bringing in Housh to play 3rd-4th spot...

if the browns did he would be competing for the #1 spot.. our young receivers don't need that.. especially if as a coach, you want to see if they can contribute.

I have to disagree with ya a bit here HotB. (1) The Browns need a proven veteran to Help the Young Guns! (2) The Price was the Vet Minimum with the Hawks paying the freight this year (3) He is another Weapon on a Division Rival that our young defense has to deal with (w/o a pass rush to speak of) (4) Boldin/Housh/Rice/RayRay...Palmer/Ocho/TO/Benson...Get my drift? We will have to outscore teams every game to have a chance. I just get the feeling that we are concentrating on future potential, and Not on being competetive Now!!! I Hope I'm wrong, or Mangini is Gone!!!! JMHO Go Brownies!!!
