Now that the final cuts are in, I wanted to take a look at just what the Browns received from the Jets as a result of the Braylon Edwards trade last year.
1) Chanci Stuckey: Should be a solid #3 slot receiver. Last year had 19 catches for the Browns for 198 yards and a TD. Should be more productive with Jake Delhomme at QB. Appears to be good on slants. 12 games, 19 catches for 198 yards and 1 TD.
2) Jason Trusnik: One of my favorite payers on the team. 100% effort. Fundementally sound. Always tries to get better. Special teams demon. Trusnic had 54 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 12 games with the Browns last season. By comparison, David Bowens played 16 games, and had 71 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
3) Shawn Lauvao: The 3rd round pick we got for Edwards turned into Lauvao. So far Lauvao looks like a "plug him in and let him play for 10 years" type of player at Guard. Also played Center in the pre-season, and was a Tackle in college.
4) Larry Asante: Released on the final cut ..... but I suspect we'll see him back on the Practice Squad.
Braylon Edwards, after leaving the Browns, put up the following for the Jets:
12 games, 35 catches, 531 yards, 4 TDs.
These are not bad numbers, but hardly what one would expect from a #1 WR. He did play with a rookie QB though. I am curious to see how he does this year. He should have a lot of help after game 4 from Santonio Holmes.

It's a good trade even if you only consider the draft pick turned into our starting RG. We also got some some solid pieces - not stars, but solid players - in exchange for losing a malcontent in our locker room, a guy with pass-catching issues and a prima donna who didn't want to be in Cleveland (although he's a helluva decoy out there on the field ). The Jets took a problem off our hands and gave us something back - even better. So screw you Jon Gruden, and your MNF Braylon-fawning cronies.

Braylon Edwards has some make up work to do.. right now in my eyes, Braylon is no better a WR than Stuckey...
I think we got equal value, if not better in this trade. Fans outside of Cleveland may not think so, but as a fan, watching BE from week to week, seeing his unwillingness to fight for balls, his inability to catch "easy" passes, and his selfish attitude... yea.. Glad ur gone.

Also, Edwards was not coming back to Cleveland. Getting anything was better than nothing.
A bird in the hand is worth more than 16 drops by Edwards.

If we have a quality RG for the next 8-9 years, its a good deal for the Browns. Everyone else (Stuckey, Trusnik, Asante) is just icing on the cake. Guys with BE's athletic ability may be rare, but receivers with his stats - except for one year - are a dime a dozen.

YTown,..... Even without Larry Asante [whom will most likely be picked up threw waivers imo]. It still would appear to be a favorable trade on our behalf. You all should no by now that I really like Jason Trusnik and I think Stuckey brings something different to the team, also Shawn Lauvao might be my favorite draft pick this year. With Mitchell, even though not part of the trade, we have a player that we can develop with similar skills, whom would probably not had made the final cuts if not for the trade. BE is too full of himself to ever be in the true mold of a Cleveland Brown. This will go down as one of the best trades in the History of Cleveland sports.

Thanks for posting this,, Good job Ytown I'd say we came out of this ahead. Actually far ahead if you take two points into consideration.. 1.. No way would we have resigned BE and 2. BE was a Problem child.. If this was a win/lose thing,, we win......

He played with a rookie QB that was afraid to throw to him. Just my observation

I hated we traded him AFTER we refused a better trade offer in the preseason from the Giants. But uneven hands, crappy attitude, victim mentality (as if browns fans cared he played for michigan)..he just stayed uneven in his approach, focus, and he was a guy Mangini did not want.
Stuckey is a good bacjup and lavaou looks to be a very solid pick. BE may not even stay for ong in NY if he displays the uneven hands he did in the playoffs. I still remember him wide open drapping the ball on a TD bomb.

What was the Giants trade offer in the pre-season?
I read about 10 different senarios, all of which were denied by the teams.

I still feel like we gave the Jets a bad case of Herpes. You know the problem is going to disappear for a while and life is going to seem peachy but just when they're looking to seal the deal on prom night they'll look down and "doh!!!".
