well deserved for Carmona. with Choo on DL, he was really the only worthy option.

Carmona's W/L may not be pretty, but his other numbers are up to par and it's not his fault we can't support him (See today's game for an example).

This thing is a joke anymore and I don't watch it, so I'm not that upset about Votto not making it.

Votto is top 5 in average, home runs and RBIs. That's probably one of the all time snubs.

Hardly, not with Pujols in front of Joey. It always has been a popularity contest and indeed Cincy fans stuffed the ballot box before (the 60's, I think).

Joey will get his due. I just hope he is still wearing a Reds uniform. The cynic in me says that he'll be in pinstripes or playing home games at Fenway. Castellini does spend some money, but will he or can he even spend like the Yanks, Sox, Cubs, etc. Heck, New York's payroll is nearly 3 times that of the Reds. The disparity just sucks.

I'll always love my Reds though.

EDIT: I just noticed that Joey didn't make the roster at all (helps to read the entire thread). That is BS. I found this 2010 All Star Game Final Vote on my Facebook wall. Damn shame it would come to that in my opinion.

Do they still require one player from each team?

I understand the reasoning behind Strasburg not making it cuz he's only had what, six starts?
That that would have been something to see, though. The kid will win a lot of games if he stays healthy.

I see you did agree with me in the edit, but Charlie Manuel homered us when he selected Howard over Votto. I understand Pujols deserves to start and will always win the fan vote.

I did put my 20 votes in for Votto though.

Yes.

I figured this is the best place to put this...

The Red Sox have almost an entire playoff team on the Disabled List.

C- Jason Varitek
1B- Victor Martinez
2B- Dustin Pedrioa
SS- Jed Lowrie
3B- Mike Lowell
LF- Jacoby Ellsbury
CF- Mike Cameron (could be headed for DL, we'll see)
RF- Jermey Hermedia
P- Josh Beckett
P- Clay Buchholz

Umm... do you know something the rest of us haven't heard or are you making an assumption?

Still... yeah, it is depressing to see how many really good players we've had to let go of in favor of younger, cheaper prospects in the hope that they'll turn out and make us competitive for a few years (until they too can command the big contract and the cycle repeats itself -- over and over and over...).

Reminds me of when the Montreal Expos did a major salary dump 1995-1997 and the ex-Expos who went on to all-star games:
Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom, Moises Alou, Pedro Martinez... to name those most prominent. As an Expos fan it was depressing.

cmon, Lincecum was never an Indian. everyone knew he was not coming out in the draft, the Indians took a stab at him in the 45th round anyway (the 45th round)

he didn't come out and the Giants drafted him the next time he was available.

(sorry, but Lincecum as an Indian is a pet peeve of mine)
