OK, Since I have my old laptop working again, I am going to get into geek mode again and try out some different Operating Systems.

I am going to run them through VM Ware .... so I can keep XP running, and so I don't have to worry about dual booting and all that crap.

My plan is to install Ubuntu 10.4, and also Haiku. (which is based upon one of my favorite O/S of all time .... BeOS)

Any suggestions for other Operating Systems to try out .... or aps to install?

I am in the same situation.

Once I dropped the tech business I stopped staying on top of stuff ..... and I also stopped playing around with other O/S.

But ..... I have a little time now ..... so why not?

Got Ubuntu and Haiku installed and happily living in VM Ware.

I like playing around with different operating systems ..... but in the end, there's only so much "different" stuff you can do with them.

I do like Haiku because it's different from Linux, and it's not based on the Linux kernel. It is a very early Alpha version though. It shows. It doesn't like my wireless network card for some reason .... but that's OK. I can still play around with it a bit until the next version comes out.
