Bet they wish that they hadn't traded Brown right about now......

Defensive back Marlin Jackson, who signed a two-year deal with the Eagles in March, tore his right Achilles tendon during Philadelphia's OTA practice Tuesday, the team announced.

Jackson left Philadelphia's Tuesday OTA workout in tears after suffering a then-undisclosed injury, Jeffrey McClain of the Philadelphia Inquirer first reported.

According to McClain, Jackson went down defending a Kevin Kolb-to-Jeremy Maclin pass. ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported that Jackson "appeared to suffer a serious injury" and had to be carted off.

"It's not good," a source told NFL.com's Jason La Canfora immediately after Jackson left practice.

This is an absolutely crushing blow for Jackson. The 26-year-old Michigan product tore his right ACL in 2008, then tore his left ACL last season, with both injuries requiring surgery. He left Indianapolis after five seasons to join the Eagles and agreed to shift from cornerback to free safety. Early indications out of Philly had him in position to claim that starting job next to strong safety Quintin Mikell.

The Eagles' other options at FS are led by Macho Harris, who was the team's starter at that position last season. Philadelphia asked Harris to move to cornerback after acquiring Jackson and drafting Nate Allen in the second round out of South Florida. Harris moved back to free safety after Jackson's injury Tuesday, McClain reported. Quintin Demps, who has 32 tackles in two NFL seasons, is also in the mix for playing time.

Jackson will now face surgery again after his third major leg injury in three seasons, which could push him close to retirement. He's played just one full season (2007) in his five years in the league.

I remember seeing him play for Sharon High School back in 01. He had a good career with MIchigan, and some moments with the colts. This is sad to hear.

I've never had it happen to me, but a rupture achilles always seemed like it would be an injury that would hurt a ton.

I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

yes he was. i believe he was a starter on their superbowl winning team, but i'm not 100% sure of that.

I looked it up...yep, he was indeed a starter on that team:

When I was younger, I remember watching him play at Sharon too. They scrimmaged General McLane...and I remember knowing he would be a stud.

Jamir Miller agrees.

I am still amazed to this day that Baxter could walk out onto that field, let alone practice and try to play.

He showed amazing fortitude and perseverance. Too bad it didn't work out for him ..... but I know that it wasn't for a lack of trying.

A few things

1. Marlin was a safety for them not a corner

2. They drafted Nate Allen so they're fine
