Not for nothing, but I have been around this board going back to 9/11/01 and fondly remember all the back and forth from then till now.
I know no one on this board but you think the way some people fancy themselves through their posts that if they were to sneeze the board should get the flu.
I can say with certainty that I have learned a great deal about sports and life from all the varied viewpoints contained here. It is a shame some think to much of themselves then.

Eotabs 'What I Saw Thread" should have been named "What We Saw". Its funny how his whole take was it a thread intended for those who didn't watch the game, but it was disguised as a way to act like he was a "big fish in a little pond"with football knowledge. I mean really, with all the sports bars and internet.....how could you not follow the Orange and Brown unless you lived in a cave or in New Guneia. If you argued with Eotab,he was always right....... You could never disagree with the regime who ever it was......in Eotab's view each regime had it figured out. But as soon as the coaches and GM's changed..Eotab would disapear. I thought it was classic when OverToad would put Eotab in his place...... Too bad Versatile and GM don't post here more.....2 guys that know there stuff with being condensending to others.

Honestly, unless a poster is an obvious troll what is the point in permanently banning someone? I assume since he hasn't been seen in quite a while that eo is on a permanent ban which is why I make the above statement. To me, banishing someone is like putting them on ignore. It makes almost as big a statement about the "banner" as the "bannee", in my opinion. I got into more than one argument with Vers and eo. I never questioned their football knowledge. Only their condescending tone bothered me. But I do think the board would be a better place with them on it. I like a little spice now and then.......

Not everybody can coexist within a defined framework. Some people need to constantly push the boundaries, and eventually, some others get tired of dealing with that.

I find it all funny. I started posting in 2001 when I moved from Ohio to Oregon. This place became my fanbase. Though I go to the Brownsbacker bar to watch the game, Dawgtalkers is my "watercooler". Especially working in a primarily female domintated career. (Not that girls can't talk football). But just like any group, drauma occurs. Much like in life I chose to hang back and watch it all unfold. Ultimatley none of this is about "us". It's about the Browns, but some have a hard time expressing this in their words and thoughts. Or believing it in their minds.

Yeah,, someone started this year putting up a "post game" type thread.. it wasn't needed..
I completely disagree. EO would take up to a day to post his thread. Some of us didn't want to wait that long.
EO also didn't want anything he considered "ranting". The other thread was full of rants which probably helped out his thread.
I would get into it with EO quite a bit because I didn't care for how he treated many posters when they said things in the same manner he did. I can understand having personal battles with other posters.( I have a small fan club that really love me ) but it seemed like he had them with anyone who would disagree with him.
I did enjoy reading what he thought because he did know his football. He is also a very nice guy from what I have been told from those who actually know him. IMO The problem is that he has very thin skin.
I really like Vers but the man brought everything onto himself. He acted like an old school coach trying to educate a bunch of kids he believed were slow learners. We would be those kids.
As for Diam...I know many relish the chance to rub Quinn in his face. I haven't spoke to him in a long while but I'm pretty sure he couldn't care less about that. I know that he liked me but he would treat me the same as he did everyone else. It's just the way he likes to post.

I find it funny how everyone wishes they could rub Quinn in Diam's face. He's already admitted to me on several occasions that he sucked and doesn't care that we traded him.

You are smart enough to know why they want to. He was pretty adamant in what he thought about Quinn and attacked many who didn't agree.
Many people dislike Diam and they want a chance to rub it in.

so because he didn't post it right after the game, it was an inconvience to you...
OK,, I see that. It used to drive me nuts also,,, but I liked his observations..
look, I don't need to defend him. he's a big boy..
I stated that I liked his thread and didn't feel we needed a second one,,, I don't really care if you agree or not....

One thing that folks don't learn don't learn in life is that tact in conversation is very important. People have long memories of getting treated like crud. That's why folks like Diam and EO have a lot of people that don't like them.

This is true, but I always felt like you had to avoid the occasional condescendingness and read what they actually had to say.
Those three guys were on when I started posting on these message boards, and they were definitely big players here. I definitely appreciate everything they have contributed.
I've talked to Diam in the past couple months and he still chats with some posters via PM but doesn't really post or read that much anymore. He's doing well though
As for Tab, didn't he get banned for swearing at DeepThreat? I think lampdog was posting around then on the thread with me when I begged Tab to edit it so he wouldn't get banned. In some way it became personal and from what I remember I didn't think Eo liked being insulted by a HSchool-er. I'm sure you probably remember the fight better than any of us Deep
Do what you want with people though Purp, I understand that there are rules here and guidelines. People know when they're going over the line usually, especially when they've been here for awhile. But it's difficult for me to say I don't miss some of the guys who really helped me form a lot of my football knowledge like Vers, Tab, and Diam (self-imposed), even if it seemed like their message board egos grew to rediculous sizes.
It's funny how you run this place Purp and it's really never happened to you (gigantic message board ego syndrome). I really respect that, you are one cool dude for hooking everyone up for so long. AND you don't act like a Benito Mussolini of this board. Instead, you're more like Tom Petty from The Postman. A hero in your own right

This board is so much better now. Dolt!, My BOY!, I called out Quinn sucking and the huge disapointment I had in Savage for taking him..That didn't go over very well with the know it alls..as I was ganged up on and told I was stupid amongst a bunch of other things. I also felt that Quinn is the reason, Anderson fell apart. I still believe Anderson will be a better Pro than Quinn, and that he will be pretty successful in Arizona as I think he will beat Leinert straight up for the starting nod. It doesn't matter now and am glad they are both gone and the air is clear. Eotab was a know it all, and he didn't like the fact that I know about football too. He was never wrong about anything, but when he didn't interject his opinions as facts or wasn't condescending people he was ok. Diam was just a blatant Quinn Homer and believe me he cares..after all that's his BOY!

just clicking...
While I don't post often, I have been reading for years. EO certainly did have a thin skin and staked much of his reputation on his football acumen. He always spoke of the kids he coached and trained. I always heard "Glory Days" play in my head when he would spout off. On that note, not surprised he bowed out after the Quinn disaster. Not to mention, he thought the Browns surely had it right with the Mangini / Kokinis combo. "They finally got it right this time!"
Diam, total Quinn fanboi. Also, I recall reading him proclaiming that Pioloi was "already here" as our GM. Obviously before the Mangini or Kokonis hirings. That guy was so far off on so many accounts. Too bad they go into hiding rather than admit their oversights. In the end, it's only a message board.
On a side note, I don't see much from JulesDawg, DawgInDayton or PitDawg much anymore. Any reason?
Anyway, I certainly enjoy reading the opinions of the board.
Speaking of which........Where has Django been??? Maybe he lost it once Mangini was retained.

Lets see who shows up for the draft and the games. I have trouble following the who's replying to what on the Browns website so I like this board but the off season gets a little stale.

I was gonna post about that last night, but thought it'd be better to stay out of it. Now that you've dragged me into it... haha... Yeah Eotab dropped a literal FU on Deepthreat and I'm pretty sure hasn't been back since that night (last fall maybe? *). I was there reading the exchange, it is WHAT I SAW! Ya just knew Deep and Eo would get into it one day. .
By the way I agreed with eo's premise about What I Saw, in terms of just relaying what posters saw during the game, instead of a lot of opinions and crying and whining hopelessly, but I also enjoy the "Post-Game Thoughts" threads as well.
Diam stopped posting before 2009 training camp started, back when we still had hope for BQ so it's not like he ran and hid when the waters got rough.
* Edit: that argument was in January, cuz me and Petey exchanged PMs on Jan. 18 amd I just checked old PMs...

To be honest, I don't even remember what Eo and I were arguing about. I think Toad may have been involved in it as well, but I'm not sure. But yeah, he dropped an FU on me and has been gone since.

Then start a thread that interests you. There is plenty of room and interests among all the posters here to cover a wide variety of topics.

It has been said many times that there are too many political threads on here, and there have been requests made to give politics/govt it's own forum. Currently, of the first 2 pages in the Tailgate Lot (50 threads) I see a total of 6 threads in regard to this topic. (and 2 of the top 15 are about the health care bill and should have been merged)
Is that too many????
Personally, I rarely post here anymore due to the inconsistency in moderation.

They've been genetically mixed and combined to form one super-poster ... OVERTOAD!
j/k man!

Dude..........I read that and literally barked out a "HA!" Then in a matter of a split-second, I had a vision of what came out of that combining machine in the movie "The Fly"
Rish, you're thread and Eo's thread were NOT the same. They may have bled over into each other as the thread progressed, but that isn't your fault. It's an inevitable outcome of threads and this world of online postings.
We all have hopes that our threads remain "pure" based on our intent. It never can happen that way. Eo expected too much when demanding that posters not go on rants or vent. Your thread "allowed" that straight out of the gate. It's a small, but very fundamental difference.
I haven't talked to Eo, so I don't know why he was banned or if he's unbanned and just doesn't want to post here.
