Howard Balzer of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat reports via Twitter Merlin Olsen passed away early this morning at the age of 69.

A sad day for all football fans. Olsen was a member of the Fearsome Foursome, the Rams famous defensive line.

Olsen was a Pro Football Hall of Famer(class of 1982). He made 14 consecutive Pro Bowls. He later became an NFL game analyst and TV actor.

Wow, that's too bad. I'll always remember him in those flower commercials.

RIP, Mr. Olsen.
I always thought he was great as a color commentator.... not flashy or histrionic... just calm, sensible and knowledgable.
