I know alot of folks were fans of the franchise before they lost the license and stop making the game. The question is would it be worth playing without the NFL license? I guess you could probably get roster updates to simulate the real teams? 2K Sports Announces All-Pro Football 2K8 By: César A. Saw it, but due to the lack of an NFL license, I'll be passing. It could be the greatest game in the world, but I play Madden to play with the Browns and our players. That's what draws me to the game. It sucks for them, I hope it works out, but most people are going to want to play with NFL teams.

I guess they'll be contacting individual former players too.
If you want my opinion, I say have the rosters, teams (including team name) and jerseys fully customizeable. It'd be very easy to have the Browns look perfect.
Create your own stadium and give it more options than Madden's crappy create a stadium.

They'll have to do something like that if they want to have some kind of chance.

I'll be honest. I've been a Madden player for a long while. (Since old FSP Football Pro went defunct...that was my favorite ever) But I have to say that every year the new Madden comes out and I'm very underwhelmed. It might be just that I'm playing the PC version (though I do own an Xbox), but it just doesn't seem like they are really trying to put out a pollished game anymore.

I do not buy Madden or any other football game for that matter. IMO it just isn't right to change a FEW features, changes the rosters and charge $50 for it. It just isn't right now I got this past years for my birthday...but that's another story.

That is about the truth of it. Again my opinion may be a bit biased because I don't believe teh PC versions of Madden do as much to innovate as the console versions. I mean to be honest if they wanted to take advantage they could make a game for the pC that the consoles could not touch...yet they don't.
Anyway competition is a good thing at least. I'm not sure I'd really want to play a game without the nFL teams myself. I don't even care for redrafting in Madden so an entire roster of fake names might feel odd.

In my opinion, they have had a few years to come up with a football game with no NFL license to compete in the market, they should have made a high-school football game "Friday Night Lights"
Biggest thing would be the ability to customize everything, from your jerseys, where you play, size of school, private or public. Have guys sign to colleges. Ive been waiting for a game like this and dont see it happening, but I would love it.
I remember there was a game back on SNES where you could create a high school. It was great. Not too many features, but with all the time they had on this, I think they missed the boat.

they should make a football game with former pros, (would the nfl still be able to stop that?)
have teams just called cities... have cleveland wear there colors, you just don't call them the browns, have jim brown in the backfield, otto graham at qb, paul warfield and ozzie newsome catching passes...
walter payton lines up in the chicago backfield, montana taking snaps for san francisco...
you probably couldn't include a lot of teams, but it would still be awesome...
jim brown going up against dick butkus or lawrence taylor...

This is awesome news!! I guarantee that within a week of release, someone will have real NFL rosters on the internet to download. Just put them on a max drive and you're set to go! Madden has been really sad these past few years, so I can't wait to see something new and fresh

Does that mean you only ever play one season? I mean after the first season you have rookies that are not real NFL players... Who freakin' cares if it has "real names."
Give me a fully customizable game and I'm happy. I own Maximum Football from matrix games which is incredible for its ability to customize. The game play is a little lackluster but I never take control of players when I play it anyhow. The database is also open so you can write your own programs to create things like college recruiting or what have you.
If 2K8 or above offers all of that I'll be extremely happy...
As for the old players... It would be hard to pull off as they would have to sign individual deals with each player they want to include. They're no longer in the NFLPA...

I care, A LOT. Its a huge deal to a lot of people and I wont play this game either. Alos on Madden you import guys from college. I get all the names on the rosters from this site, So i play quite a few seasons with all real guys.

So you play a season... wait a year for the college draft class to be set, and then play another season? That sounds enjoyable...

Ok. Let me walk you through this.
I play both college football and Madden, if you dont you can rent it and sim the seasons.
After your Madden season you import the draft class. After your next Madden season you import the next draft class from College football. and so on and so on.
You will get 4 drafts of real NCAA players. Do you get it?

I'm not picking about the names, so if the game play on this is good I'll definitely check it out. Lately I've been playing Front Office Football 2007, which doesn't even have any gameplay - it's all management. Intense stuff.

Hmmm.. this is interesting and potentially good news. I've been a Madden player for several years as well, and quite frankly, it's been a piece of crap lately (haven't bought the game since 2004) As for this new game, it'll be interesting to see how they go about putting it together. I'd like to think it would be fully customizable (thereby eliminating the licensing issue) and provide similar (if not superior) gameplay and graphic capabilities. Looking forward to seeing this.
