This may seem like a dumb question, but how do we ensure that the college scouting that is happening now is any better than the past decade. I have faith in the top of the org. with holmgren and heckert to select wisely, but how do we know some of our scouts themselves aren't part of the problem?

Yeah they should be gone by summer in preparation for next year, but what about the scouts who have been watching tape, practices, interviewing coaches and teammates of players we want to talk to now.

Does anyone know how we even hire scouts and how they break into the business? Are they former players that couldnt make it in the pro's or are they just big fans that know a lot? Not trying to be ignorant, but it just seems scary when I think about it. We DO have MH and Heckert to pull the trigger come draft day ... but who are the guys loading the bullets .. so to speak?
