Just looked at this site that was linked from a Doug Lesmerises article on cleveland.com:

http://www.playoffproblem.com/

The BCS put out this site to argue that because a playoff system wouldn't make everyone happy, there is no reason for reform. While the site is correct that their is no way to make everyone happy, under the current system, there is no way for teams like TCU or Boise State to ever have a chance. And there never will be because no big conference team will schedule these teams nor will big conferences ever accept these teams. I say lets find out about these teams and settle it on the field.

I am interested in any opinions out there, but am especially interested if anyone agrees with this site and thinks the BCS is better than a playoff.

It is pure bs.

While you can make the arguement that 1 and 2 have played, numerous times there have been 3 legitimate teams that could play for number 1.

Play the 4 big bowls as week 1 of the playoffs. with a semi final and final.

Eight teams is enough. 9 will always complain.

No automatic bids use a composite rating like they have now to determine 1 to 8.

I agree, it wouldn't be hard to use the existing bowls...not so much as a playoff, but one last step in the final seeding process, then have one extra game with the #1 and #2 at that point.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

this part is a complete fallacy....

Oregon played Boise this year....

VaTech is playing Boise next year in DC. Oregon State has a home-n-home scheduled with them as well.

2012 is an ESPN hype machine because they are trying to force Nebraska to pick them up....the problem so far has been Boise is demanding a $1million contract from the Huskers (2nd Oregon State game already set for that year)

-----------------

TCU played Oklahoma last year.....UVa and Clemson played them this year.

------------------

BYU had Oklahoma and Florida State this year.......on and on and on.....

One final note: If Nebraska upsets Texas....TCU will likely be #2 (and not BCS conference champion Cincinatti).

Ok, back to bickering about the lack of playoffs....just don't use this argument please.

no_logo_required: Good call, I did get a little carried away with that part. I based my argument on an ESPN article from a few weeks ago that said Boise St. had been calling and calling and calling and no one would take a game with them for 2011, but it seems that article has been corrected with a new article saying the older article was overboard. My mistake.

new article:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4642585

While it is likely TCU would go to 2 if Texas is upset, my problem is that it is required for Texas to be upset for TCU to have their shot; its out of TCU's hands.
