My parents want to get me something for Christmas...I am drawing a blank
Is the iPod Touch worth buying and how often do you use them, if you have one

My iPod is nearing 5 years old. I've been thinking about getting an iPod touch but I'm holding off.

I've bought two ipods within the last 3 years and both of them have died. - You can't change the battery yourself.
I will never buy an apple product again.
Take a look at Blackberry products dude.

I didn't know there was a such thing as a Blackberry MP3 Player.
My iPod is 5 years old and still works.

I know several people who have working ipods that were purchased over 3 years ago. Mind you, I bought two within the last 3 years and both have died. - The quality has slipped.

The original poster never said he was looking for an MP3 player.

I am asking about the iPod Touch, the MP3 player, not the iPhone

I personally think it is one of the slickest electronics devices ever made. It's a one stop shop for entertainment ... literally. Music, movies, games, photos (to store not take), internet ... it is really, really slick.
I strongly recommend. Especially if you travel, even only a few times a year. You can throw it in your pocket and entertain yourself for hours on a long trip.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I love it. Use it pretty much everyday. Plays music, surfs the web, goes on youtube, and you can download pretty much any app you can think of for it. The best part is if you're somewhere that has wi-fi you can get on the internet for 100% free. If you have any other questions, let me know. The iPod touch is one of my favorite devices I've ever purchased.

Wow, overly dramatic much? You may have just gotten unlucky Muni.

Not in so many words, but, the iPod Touch is known as a portable entertainment device. So following the lines of inference ...
There are no sacred cows.

Between my 80GB 5th gen iPod video and my iPhone, I don't really have a need for an iPod Touch...storage volume with the iPod, functionality with the iPhone. If I didn't have those two devices, though, I'd probably have a Touch. The functionality in such a small device is pretty impressive.
As for reliability, my iPod was made in November of 2006 and it still works like it was new. Likewise with my iPhone, made in November 2007. Muni, you can replace an iPod's battery yourself. It voids the warranty if its still covered, but if the battery went bad while it was under warranty, then you would just have Apple replace it for free under warranty, no? Even if it was out of warranty, a battery replacement through Apple is $60 for most iPods...double the cost of a replacement battery but you don't have to rip the thing open and tinker around and risk damaging something else.
Many perceived battery issues with iPods really aren't battery issues anyway. A restore fixes a lot of problems.

best device ever. (other than the iphone)
i use it constantly. if you have access to a lot of wifi areas, it's even better.
i bought my 32g for 300 bucks. i'd buy another one in a heartbeat if mine got lost or stolen right now.
it's sleek, it's extremely user friendly, and it has all the bells and whistles.
for anyone who is into games and the app store, make sure you skip out on madden, not a very good game, get yourself tiger woods, great game.
i have a police scanner app that has 1700 streams from locations all over the world.
