Browns could be targeting Rocky Boiman Posted by Mike Florio on November 10, 2009 8:25 PM ET With linebacker Eric Barton placed on injured reserve and no player signed to take his place, the Browns could be planning to fill Barton's spot with veteran linebacker Rocky Boiman.

Per a league source, Boiman worked out for the Browns on Tuesday.
Boiman, a seven-year veteran, most recently played for the Chiefs in 2008. He signed with the Titans in August, but he was cut in September.
We starting to sign camp bodies early.

Houndfolks, I believe something good may happen here. More injuries, more pickups, more rook time. Not nuts about where we are, but this might be a solid pickup. And I am confident our DC can get good use out of this position. Hope for better than the best.

Where is Bell by the way? If he is on another teams PS, he knows his teammates and has been in the 3-4 system for 2 years. Although he was injured all last year so playing with his teammates isnt that much of a benefactor for him. He did look bigger than all the other ILBs. Also, bringing him back to finish out the year would be cheaper than his origanl contract.
I think the last Ive seen of him he was doing a tryout for a team. not sure if he ever got a contract. Im guessing that he didnt impress enough to ever get called back if the Browns are working out these other guys. Or they are working them out to see if they are better options than Bell. I think Mangini wont be asking Bell to ever come back.

This is all I could find on Bell but it's from Wikipedia
James Beaumont "Beau" Bell (born May 26, 1986 in Tustin, California) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at UNLV.
If he is a current free agent and can't even make another teams practice squad then I would say it's a good bet he wouldn't help us a whole lot.

I think the fact that Bell isn't playing is really surprising. He was supposed to be a monster.

It's not like he was a high pick.
He was a fourth rounder. Guys like him wash out of the league all the time.

http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/team/roster.phpNow on the Roster. This is a blue collar linebacker, hopefully he will contribute on the field in some capacity.

What happened? Did the Jets run out of old slow LBers to trade to us?

The trade deadline has passed. I think Mo Lewis is a free agent though.

Well he did get his first start last year
I never understood the Maivia pick. i guess just for specail teams because at 224, he is small for a 3-4 ILB. The other ILB use to play d-line for Hawaii.
Not many agree but I wish Chaun Thompson was here. He wasnt bad on specail teams and could step in at any LB spot. Led the team in sacks (tied with McKinnley another guy I liked as a backup) the year before Wimbley was drafted.

Am I missing something? I don't see any new players listed in the LB position.

Lots of talk about Titus Brown in training camp as an edge rusher. I see he is still on the practice squad. With all our injuries at LB and moving Bowens inside, I would think he should get a look.
