Regardless of whether Mangini is fired these things must happen from this day forward:

1) Quinn must play every snap (and DA should be released so BQ doesn't have to look over his shoulder). If Quinn still sucks at season's end, we cut him and find another QB 9Likely in the draft).

2) Lewis must be benched for Harrison. There is absolutely no point in playing a washed up vet on a team going nowhere. Let's see if Harrison can carry the load day to day now.

3) Robiskie needs to play every down. Again, we need to see what we have.

4) We should all but abandon the wildcat, but for maybe 3 plays a game. Cribbs is a god, but we are going nowhere and him running the wildcat only does 2 things: keeps us from seeing Quinn at QB and risks an injury to a guy we absolutely need returning kicks. If we are better next year, I would implement this package a lot more often.

5) Run more screen passes. These can really take away a persistent blitz (which is all our QB's see) and are generally high percentage plays.

6) Make any player who misses a tackle, drops a pass, fumbles, or misses an assignment put money into a kitty to buy tickets for any potential blackout games as a thank you to the fans.

We ran screen plays in the preseason with great effectiveness. I know it's the preseason, but when's the last time during this season that we saw one? I mean, did Daboll just lose that section of the playbook?

7.) Poteat should only play if it is an absolute emergency...meaning everyone else is out.

8.) Fraley should play the rest of the year at RG.

I agree that we should run more screen plays. You know that DA + screen pass = FAIL though.
Nothing like firing a 5 yard laser to the RB's knee

Mangini is the focul point of everything, if you poll Browns fans, 56% would have him fired on Tuesday. The other 44% have to wait for yet another project in development. I wish we threw this type of money claiming lake Erie as a place to be.

you have to make your employees comfortable, last i heard, its still the mistake by the lake. too much fresh water to not take advantage of

I think the poll would be much higher than 56%, and he should be fired at the end of the season if this type of stuff is what we see the rest of this season. If i'm not doing my job at work I get fired simple as that and same goes for just about every other person in this world, why should it be any different for Mangini.

1. Agree, but releasing DA is pointless. We'd incur a pretty significant cap hit for next season. Still, Quinn should play every down barring an injury, and DA and Quinn should both know that it's Quinn's show.

2. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I still can't understand why Harrison is so under-utilized. Harrison as starter, Chris Jennings as backup. Lewis is done. At least we'll have some semblance of a spark in the running game (as long as we continue to run to the LEFT. Don't even bother going right).

3. Agreed. Both Robiskie and Massaquoi are a long, long ways off, though.

4. If the wildcat could be used at the RIGHT time of the game, and in a CREATIVE way, then I'd be all for it. But the way we're using it now is just awful. It's terrible, and if they continue to use it this way, it should be scrapped all together.

5. Great point.

6. My aunt, who works in payroll, said way back in 1999 that we should dock salaries for every dumb mistake on the field. This would be a tremendous way to pay back fans who are forced to watch embarrassing football week in and week out.

on the subject of screens...sure they work in the preseason, but bernie was quick to point out that screens are great when you are up against 4th teamers, but real pros are smart and athletic enough to make up for it most of the time.

We ran screens in first halves that worked against first teamers too.

Thats why we aren't running them now, the other team will be expecting it. There is no way they see the ol' triple 6 yard curls or wildcat on 3 and 12.

Don't you get it DC, offensive play calling is all about deception...gotta do what the other guy isnt expecting. Daboll is just that smart, and we football fans just aren't smart enough to criticize an NFL OC.

I agree put Quinn back under center, As awful as Quinn has looked DA has found a way to look even worse.
After watching Quinn I really felt DA gave us the best chance to win, now it's more about who gives us the best chance to look competetive.

Robo definately needs more PT,..I think with Quinn he'll have more of a chance.

More screens? If BQ gets the nod,...that's pretty much ALL you'll see.

I hope to see more Harrison as well, I still think JL is better in the redzone, but now that he feels to announce his retirement at midseason while the team is realing shows that his effort will probably fall the way of his heart.
