I know that we have a lot of soccer followers on this website. Sign the petition on this website to help Cleveland, OH be selected as one of the host cities for the US bid for the World Cup in 2018 and 2022. The website lays out the entire process along with all of the candidates for sites with a support page for each candidate!
I never did like soccer its a sissy's version of hockey and rugby plus Lerner has a big stiffy for soccer and takes it in the behind so i definately wont support that.
Good luck con... I'm not a big soccer fan but I appreciate it - people think there aren't many scoring chances, but there ARE...they just aren't as obvious. To be one of the WC host sites would be a very good thing for the city of Cleveland.
Exactly. The World Cup is the largest tournament in the world and brings in a TON of people. It would be an unbelievable opportunity to boost the economy in a city that is definitely lacking right now. But of course, if you don't want the city showcased on the worlds largest stage, then oh well I guess and we can continue to fall behind the times. CBS is a great venue for soccer and the city has all the intagibles to make it work.
As an FYI, the '94 World Cup in the US is still the record holder for attendance. With soccer being even bigger in the US now, there is no doubt in my mind that it would break the record. There is a lot of money to be had by being one of the host cities.

In a professional soccer match, a midfielder runs about 6-7 miles. And that's in 90 minutes. Good luck trying to do that.
As someone who's played football, soccer, ran track, and wrestled all through high school, I can tell you that soccer is probably the most physically demanding sport outside of wrestling. I would think cross country is up there as well but I never ran CC so I can't compare the two.
Oh, and the general lack of maturity on this board is incredible. Go whine some more about how the Browns need to trade away everyone and everything while supporting the Brown out.
I would like to see the World Cup in Cleveland. I always liked playing soccer and wish my school had it before I graduated. I was never a big soccer fan in regards to watching it until my daughter signed up and had a lot of fun watching the kids play. I eventually took her to Columbus to watch the Crew. It would be good for the city and bring money to the airports, bars/resteraunts, meusams/ Rock n Roll HOF, and hotels. Even if you aint a soccer fan, why wouldnt you want this?
I signed the petition and I think that Lerner is pushing for this more than he pays attention to the Browns on gameday.
That would be really cool to land the WC here! I am not big into soccer, but like the NCAA mens tourney I watch it only during the world cup.
And Cleveland getting the gay games is a start in the right direction. Say what you want about them, but it was actually tough for thye city to get and it shocked the other cities involved. It could possible lead to other things.
And we need to develop the lakefront like now,,I agree 100%
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!
