Although I'm not a Browns fan anymore, I found a great Youtube channel that has a lot of the games when I was growing up. This guy is apparently uploading more too. They aren't the "whole" games, but a lot of "highlight" videos. Hopefully his page won't get pulled.

Enjoy!

- Nothing better than these. - I was in 5th grade watching this game with my pops. - I remember going crazy. I have been looking all over the internet for a copy of this game. - This was truly, truly, awesome to watch this 20 years later. Awesome.

Easy there mr. know-it-all. You know nothing about me and why I came to my decision. And who said anything about "changing allegiences"???

Well, for me, I have come to a few conclusions. First of all, when I was growing up, the Browns were the way my Dad and I really bonded. We always watched the games together thru the 80's and 90's. It was an incredible time to be a fan.

But as I've gotten older the list of things that truly matter to me have gotten smaller and smaller. I see sports the same as politics. You aren't really involved. You are just yelling from the sidelines hoping they do what you want but you have absolutely no say in the outcome. What happens will happen regardless of your "involvement". It's a spectator sport. I can no longer get myself emotionally involved in anything that I have no real part in. And even if they win, what's the point? I still have to live my own life an make things work for me regardless of what a football team does on Sunday. I've been thru as much emotional pain being a Browns fan as anyone. I just simply can't do it anymore.

Plus, if you watch the clips on that youtube channel and compare it to now, the NFL and it's players are so much different. I don't like all the new rules. It's harder for the defense to play defense. I also don't like seeing a linebacker celebrate after tackling someone when he gained 7 yards. Or when a team is down by 30 in the 4th quarter and they score and celebrate. It's just so old and stupid to me. I liked the humility of the Browns when I was growing up. They had class.....unlike Cribbs who said this was his gonna be breakout year at wide receiver..... And I think our society has gotten so sensitive that enjoying a game at the stadium will never be like it was at Municipal Stadium. You can't stand, cant drink too much, can't get rowdy. I grew up with that so that's what i like.

I'd much rather be involved emotionally in things where I have somewhat influenced the outcome. So I'm sticking to what I know best. My own life and my music/film. I'm moving to LA in a few months. I have a lot of things going for me right now and that's all I can really concentrate on. I have the best wife, the best friends and the best family I could ever ask for. That's all I need.

My dad is still a huge fan. And I still will talk to him about the Browns. I'll never forget growing up being a Browns fan. The first time I saw some of those videos I cried. It brought me back to growing up in Dayton, and being the person i was back then and the life I had. I will always look fondly on those memories as they were some of my best.

But now, I feel like I have to much going for me to waste it on unimportant things. And to me, the Browns are unimportant. Simple as that. I know most of you will disagree and that's fine. But that's how I feel. I've got HUGE goals and I can't let anything get in their way.

I still like watching football when I get a free moment. I find it very entertaining. But I'm not a fan of the Browns or any team. I will, however, consider myself lucky to have grown up in the 80's and 90's being a Browns fan. It won't ever get any better than that.

I wanted to share the videos with everyone here because I know a lot of people missed those times too. They make me smile.

The first game my best friend went to was that game. He got to see Bernie score a TD, Metcalf throw for one, and Webster get those 2 long ones. What a way to get aquatinted with the Browns at Municipal Stadium!

Thankyou for the post And like you said you have grown apart from the game, as I have to an extent, it is not how it used to be....Nor will it ever be! But I do believe you are still a fan, or you would not have took the time to find all those wonderful memories for us, but your passion is not what it once was? As is alot of the older fan's like me. But I still hold the hope that I will get to see them in the GAME Thankyou once again and may your life be filled with happiness.

Thanks for understanding. It's hard to consider myself a fan these days since I hardly keep up and frankly don't care. The reason I decided to look for videos was because every Sunday in fall and winter reminds me of being a kid at home with my Dad watching the games. So even if I don't watch football, this time of year always brings me back. I miss that time of my life dearly. The passion of being a fan is gone, but those memories are the best thing I could have.

Now let's get back on topic. My favorite player in action.

ryst, thanks for that response. I completely respect your decision and how you arrived at it. And before I forget, thanks for that youtube channel ... those games take me back to my childhood as well.

The opposite happens to me though when I think back to growing up during the Kosar years, watching games with my gramps, going to training camp ... it makes the emotional attachment that much stronger. I couldn't stop being a fan, and if I thought I could, all it would take would be one sight of those orange helmets ... and I'd be hooked again. This has actually happened to me. I stopped being a fan after they moved to Balt ... happened to catch the Falcons game in '03 ... all those memories came rushing back, and I was hooked again.

You make a good point about 'not having any impact on the outcome' ... 100% agree ... that's why I don't understand trash talking between fans.

Thanks again for the link. Good luck in LA.

Thanks for links ryst and I completely understand where you are coming from. Times have changed, but I still long for the NFL when the season is over.

I always loved Moon complaining after that game about us using gadget plays to beat them. I guess he felt like it shouldn't count...LMAO. It was my second favorite win over the Oilers. Mack's "comeback" game that featured him carrying several defenders into the end zone for the winning TD and Clay's regrettable lateral to Chris Pike is my favorite win over them.

I'm going to save these locally. Watch em while you can since you never know when youtube might decide to pull them for copyright violation. I've had multiple ones deleted that were accompanied by warning e-mails explaining NFL copyright violation. Interestingly, several that were removed were college clips.

I got the complete Bills game from TenYardTorrents. I would imagine it might still be available. Many of the members there are very good about keeping the upload alive. That was a great game that I always enjoy re-watching.

Thanks Rishuz. I appreciate your post. When the Browns came back it never felt the same. I did, however stay a fan for a while. But over the last few years, others things have really taken over and I see the Browns now as part of my past that I will always cherish. I think another reason why it's hard to be a fan now days is because there is no continuity for more than a couple years at a time. Growing up, the Browns never tried to clean house as much as they have since they have been back in the league. It's hard to keep up with all the changes (not because of players getting older and retiring, but because everybody sucks. )

I downloaded an app that downloads youtube videos (Mac). It's working really well so far. I'm gonna try to download all the vids on his page. I visit his page every few days and he's constantly uploading new stuff. This dude is great!

Yes he is. On the first few game clips that I watched I noticed there was no audio. I don't know if this is always the case, but maybe that is his way of trying to avoid copyright problems.

I PM'd him in hopes of maybe trading. I have a dozen or so games (mostly from TenYardTorrents) and would love to add more.

Just an update....The youtube guy has posted a ton more videos since I started this thread. Again, I would suggest downloading them if possible. Never know if/when it might go down. Firefox has an "add-on" that can download youtube vids. It works really well.

DawgTalkers.net Forums DawgTalk Tailgate Forum I found a bunch of classic browns stuff on this youtube channel
