First Preseason game tonight against the bobcats at home. Excited to get first look at Shaq/lebron. Going to be a fun ride this season, can't wait. We have some serious upgrades in talent from last year

I don't see how some people think we're going to be worse than last year. We upgraded in several positions, addressed our main weaknesses, and lost nothing from a team that won 66 games last year.
We've replaced Ben Wallace with Shaq ... huge upgrade Replaced Wally with Moon ... upgrade. Replaced Sasha with Parker ... probably an upgrade. And have Powe in waiting to replace Joe Smith. Considering Smith came back in February ... around when Powe will come back ... this is probably an upgrade as well.
The Lakers swapped Artest for Ariza. I'm not sure how much this improves them. Artest, while good ... is still living a bit on reputation. Ariza was starting to come into his own. This could almost be a lateral swap ... we'll see.
Orlando is really an enigma. They somewhat blew up a roster that got them into the Finals to add Vince Carter. Turkoglu was glue that held that offense together and now he's gone. They are also now a 5-player team, so it will be interesting to see what they do. If DH continues to break-out though, they could be dangerous ... (but we do have Shaq now!)
The Celtics added Rasheed ... but where does that leave Garnett? Does he play Center now? Do they bench Rasheed or Perkins? Plus we don't know how well KG's knees are. He didn't have a specific knee injury ... his knees are pretty much just worn out. The team in general, outside of Rondo is getting pretty old.

yeah parker is a huge upgrade over sasha, parker/moon and even throw in green and a healthy JJ and this team is freakishly athletic. We may not win 66 games, but its not because of talent reduction, its just the nature of the game, but I think we'll get pretty damn close and wouldn't be surprised if we won more. Noone in the east scares me the least this year, orlando replacing hedo with VC is NOT an upgrade at all, VC is old, and boston is really old and weren't really that good last year. I think ATL wil be better this year and I think Chicago might surprise people this year, but I still think we are easily the team to beat in the east and we really have the athletes to match up very well against LA, esp with shaq. I don't think it was even close last year

my guess is sheed plays center.
if healthy the cavs and celts will be 1a and 1b. i have doubts about that team staying healthy though. and i know shaq could break down just as easily but the cavs showed they can win a few ballgames without him. plus toss in the fact that we gave up next to nothing for him. that's what gets lost in the whole mix...
i love some of the arguments that cavs haters and anti-lebronincleveland people will bring up.
"oh shaq's gonna destroy that team, that chemistry, he's too big, 2 many superstars on that team"
really? wasn't it not long ago that people were ripping the cavs for not having enough superstars on the team? now we have too many?
shaq is 37, i highly doubt he's going to command that he be the face of a team who has a guy who's a local who's the best player on the planet.
he's in a contract year, i don't think he shows that he's some kind of cancer when he's out to get a deal.
that's why i think we're in great position. shaq wants to play a few more years, he wants to cement his legacy. he has every reason to show up every single game and play like he can. he has to prove to other teams he is worth the kind of deal he wants.
and on top of that, if for whatever reason he does become a cancer, you can trade him, a 20m expiring piece? teams will be lined up, especially with the economy. you trade a few contracts and a star player and a team gets relief with an expiring on top of it being the diesel, which will fill a few seats every night and boost tv ratings. but again, the chances of the cavs trading shaq because he's a cancer are about as good as the browns going to the super bowl this year.

Another thing to consider ... we have a number of expiring contracts to consider. Z and Shaq are two of the bigger ones. We may want to keep an eye on Toronto. If they falter out of the gate, and Chris Bosh starts getting malcontent. They may look to get what they can for him. With the cap likely going down, it's unlikely we'd get him in free agency, but if we CAN get him in a trade ... we'd get the bird rights to resign both him and Lebron.
Might be a risky move though ... Shaq is the antidote we need for Dwight Howard. And it would suck to win a finals without Z. Unless they buy out Z, and we sign him for the minimum or something.

i cannot imagine trading Z in any scenario except that the other team agreed ahead of time to buy out his contract and allow Z to return, besides being BFF with ferry, he is a local favorite who's been very loyal to the cavs and the city when he could have very easily left for better times... But i could see us making a bid for Bosh if the deal was right..I don't think its any secret thats who ferry is going to try to snag in FA

But we can't go after him in FA. Shaq and Z would come off the cap, but if we exercise Bird-rights on Lebron, there's no way we could offer anywhere close to a max deal to Bosh. Especially with the Cap figure likely to go down next year.

Well if Kobe can lure Artest to go to LA maybe Lebron can convince Bosh to come to Cleveland

Sort of off topic ... but has anybody gone and seen or plan to see the new LBJ documentary "More Than a Game"? It's a limited release, but it looks really good. I'm trying to find a theater around here that will have it, but it looks like I may have to drive up to LA to see it. Anyone else planning on watching?

I dont believe for one minute that Kobe was the deciding factor in Ron going to LA.. Ron owned a condo in LA already and spent a lot of time in the area.. Its a shame he chose that route, but I think it was more of a location/comfort thing for him.. Guy wanted to play in LA for awhile..

http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-blog/index.ssf/2009/10/oh_no_washington_wizards_desha.htmlBy Starting Blocks October 08, 2009, 10:55AM It seems as if the Washington Wizards' anti-LeBron James sentiment will not go away, especially from DeShawn Stevenson. Remember the verbal battles between the two players two years ago in the playoffs? The games were pretty good, but the on- and off-the-court chatter was classic. So now, the anti-LeBron conversation rose again earlier this week when a newcomer to the Wizards, guard Mike Miller, arrived for training camp wearing James' signature Nike shoe. Stevenson, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison didn't hesitate to let Miller know that a change was necessary. Michael Lee in The Washington Post writes: "He got to get them out of here," said Stevenson, a noted James agitator who engaged in a war of words with him two postseasons ago that later involved rappers Soulja Boy and Jay-Z. "LeBron shoes -- we off that. We already got war against them. He can't wear that. It's all beef right there." The Cavaliers host the Wizards on Wednesday in preseason action. The teams play each other for the first time during the regular season at Washington on Nov. 3 at The Q. -------- I love these side story's. I can't wait for the season to start so LBJ and the Cavs can slap DeShawn down again. DC will only go as far as Arenas will take them.

The Wizards are just the cavs little brother. I can't believe the amount of trash talking that team does. They're a okay team but nothing compared to the cavs IMO

there was an article on a blog today saying that gilbert arenas is not trying to blog or talk.
yet he has to have someone write a story about how he's just trying to play now. hilarious, that guy is one of the most overblown, overrated players in the league. total garbage and a perfect fit for that group of rejects.
oh, i hope we get them in the first round again.

I think it's funny that only under the best set of circumstances could the Wizards even hope to become the 1st round playoff exit fodder for the Cavs.

Mike Miller showed up wearing Lebron's shoes and since Deshawn and the rest of the Wizards are jealous of LBJ and the Cavs he told him no one can wear Lebron's shoes on the team...
Joe Thomas made Justin Timberlake change his name. He didn't want wusses to have the same initials...

JJ Looked like a beast. He was really improved his post game I thought from last season, and really showed his improvement in moving without the ball. If he can stay healthy I think he will be a very valuable player off the bench this season.

Could this be the end of Delonte in Cleveland? web page Big Split: Cleveland Cavalier Delonte West's Divorce Drama Posted: Oct 25, 2009 1:55 PM EDT Updated: Oct 26, 2009 7:44 AM EDT Posted by Web Staff - email | Facebook | Twitter CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Cavaliers player Delonte West and his wife reportedly got into a spat Saturday evening that ended with West's wife filing a domestic violence report. The two reportedly fought at their apartment when Delonte tried to take her wedding ring off. Mrs. West left their home and headed to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, where she filed a domestic violence report. Cleveland Police tell 19 Action News there were no signs of abuse or injury. Mrs. West then got on her flight and flew out of Cleveland. Tad Carper, Vice President of Communciatons with the Cleveland Cavaliers tells 19 Action News "the team was contacted and is aware of the situation but declined any further comment." West was arrested in September for carrying three loaded guns while riding his motorcycle. Police pulled him over and found one gun strapped to each leg and the other in a guitar case strapped to his back. ©2009 WOIO. All rights reserved. finally, a real team playing in cleveland.
i know people still consider cleveland a football town, and a browns town. but this is your team right here.
these guys will put points on the board, and this team won't deal away players to save money.
i really think the q is going to explode tomorrow night, built up frustration going back all the way from may when the cavs lost to the magic, through the tribe sucking and then dealing away any talent they had, to the browns, well being the browns.

i think the cavs will stick with delonte as long as possible. they need him.
and with the way they have adopted that "family" mentality i think they will put their necks out for him. but he's gotta get his life in order. i would be willing to let him take a leave of absence for part of the season if it meant that we could get him back later on in the year. but if they have to cut ties with him, they are really going to need an upgrade at 2. i love the parker sign, but the guy is better fit to come off the bench. delonte will be needed come playoff time when we need a bulldog out there.

Agreed.
I don't believe in kicking a man when he's down. I don't know what happened between he and his wife, and I'm fairly certain his bipolarism has to be hard on them both. He's going through a tough time right now, and the Cavs are a family, and you don't turn your back on family.
I too, would like to give him a "leave of absence." Put him on the injured list until December. Give him some time to straighten out all the twists and turns.
After watching the clowns yesterday...I can't wait until tomorrow!!

Exactly! The city needs to get behind the Cavs more than ever...a LOT riding on this season. The suckiness of the Browns will add to the excitement of the first quarter of the NBA season. Will be a lot of entertainment firing out of the Q during home games. Really wish I lived in Cleveland at times like this...

Looks like no "Big Baby" tonight!! Davis could 'be out for a while'Comment Email Print Share ESPNBoston.com Staff Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told the Boston Globe that forward Glen Davis "looks like he's going to be out for a while" with a hand injury, which was reportedly suffered in an off-the-court altercation. According to a report in the Boston Herald, which cited unnamed sources, the injury was to Davis' right thumb and occurred in an altercation with a friend. Davis was reportedly defending himself against a former teammate who was visiting from Louisiana. When asked by the Globe about the circumstances of the injury, Ainge said he "would not confirm or deny" that it occurred in an altercation. "I am not making a public statement until we have all of the facts relative to the injury," Ainge said. "We sent him for a scan and further tests." The Herald reported that surgery could be required and Davis could be lost for a significant period of time. The Boston Globe reported that Davis broke his thumb and would be out indefinitely, and Comcast Sports New England reported Davis was expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Davis, who re-signed with the Celtics in the offseason, is heading into his third season in Boston. He averaged 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game off the bench last season, but those totals spiked to 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in the playoffs, when he was a starter filling in for the injured Kevin Garnett. Along with Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels, he is expected to play a key bench role for the Celtics this season. The Celtics open their season Tuesday night in Cleveland. link

anyone that is languishing as a Browns fan right now should take heart.....at least we don't cheer for the Clippers..... it is unbelievable the amount of bad luck (of course bad drafting hasn't helped in some cases) that they have had.... the latest: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4597949LOS ANGELES -- Blake Griffin's NBA debut has been pushed back indefinitely after the Los Angeles Clippers revealed late Monday night that their No. 1 overall draft pick has a broken left kneecap. The stress fracture could sideline the Oklahoma star for six weeks, the team announced, promising further information Tuesday.
