Bottom line is you don't pass a on true franchise QB unless you already have one. EVER. Teams prove it year after year after year. The quest for that guy is so intense, teams are willing to make mistakes over and over till they get it right. They have no choice. How many have we passed on in the last five years ? Are we saying we would have destroyed Big Ben, Rogers, Sanchez, Cutler, Stafford ?
Seems to me the problem has been who was picking those guys and who we picked instead not having a team to support them.

Aren't you making my point? If teams keep making mistake after mistake, aren't you saying stupid is as stupid does?
I'm not saying a franchise QB is not important, but at the expense of a top-tier LB AND a top-tier DE, I think the choice is obvious.

Sorry, DA is proving that we NEED a real QB here more than anything. The QB touches the ball on every offensive play and is thus much more important than LB's/3-4 DE's. We have to use our high pick this year to take a Bradford/Pike/Clausen/Locker.

There were drops but DA consistently gets his guys all twisted up, throws in their crotch or does not lead them.
I got no praise for either today!

It'll actually be tougher on Anderson, as he won't have familiarity with anyone on the field.
He's never met Stuckey, let alone thrown him passes. Robo has never seen the field.
If I'm a QB in this league, the situation Anderson is walking into with these receivers is one I wouldn't want any part of.
We'll be better in the longrun for losing Edwards, but we're not better off in the here and now.

What we saw against the Bills is why I'm not confident Anderson is going to ever amount to much. Yeah, he's better than Quinn, but his upside is limited. As noted, he's always going to make that one dumbass play, and he did against the Bills.
The very best Anderson can ever be is probably the guy we saw in 2007. That's in a perfect world.
Who knows what we have in Quinn, but what we've seen is even sadder than Anderson's day because he isn't as good as Derek. Ouch.
I fully expect to see a new QB starting for the Browns next year, a QB that is not currently on the roster.
I'm going to hold out hope for Jason Campbell so that we don't spend our very high 1st round pick on a QB.......
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

I honestly think that Mangini will stick with DA. For how bad DA played today---we still got the W, and that is what Mangini wants. a guy that can get W's. Nothing flashy---just a QB that can control the huddle, get guys lined up and execute the offense.
Sure, it wasn't pretty---but we still got it done.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

Oh, he'll stick with Anderson. There are excuses for his iffy play ranging from bad weather (legit) to unfamiliar receivers (legit) to a bad situation (legit). However, unless Anderson suddenly goes on a hot streak where he isn't making that one dumb decision per game for several games in a row, it's hard to imagine Quinn not getting one more crack at the gig. Why? Because if we get to the point where Anderson hasn't become a big-time QB, his clock will have struck midnight, and the Browns will (again) have to see if there's something in Quinn to be salvaged.
So, since I don't see either QB being good enough over the long-haul, my money is on a new QB next year.
Sure, I'd rather build talent and let Anderson keep plugging until the team is ready to win, THEN replace him, but I don't see that playing out in such a fashion.
Another couple of stinkers like that and Anderson will find himself back on the bench. Remember, we didn't bench Quinn for good. We benched him to get his head on straight.
Anderson has the opportunity to keep Quinn on the bench permanently. I just don't see the ability. Frankly, I wouldn't give either QB a 25% chance of amounting to a truly legit starter in this league. At least we know what Anderson can do with a great team around him. Quinn............who knows, but what I've seen isn't pretty, and no amount of attempted persuasion from people that know better will sway me.
Blecht. I'm ranting because I don't see a good end to this situation. We either get stuck with an iffy QB, or we spend yet another high pick on a dicey player.
So far, we're 0-2 in 1st round QB's since 1999. Our best QB was Anderson of 2007, and that stagecoach has turned into a pumpkin.
