The NHL season starts tonight and just wondering what you hockey fans think of your teams.

Myself, a Leafs fan since I knew what hockey was, would be willing to settle for a playoff spot after a four-year drought.
My team looks better on paper and we have some young talent. Plus, we got bigger & tougher, and now have that Gustavsson goaltender who many think is gonna be a good one.

Not ready to challenge teams like Piitsburgh or Detroit, but I think we'll be a scrappy, entertaining team to watch.

Penguins and Redwings are gonna be interesting to watch again this year. Being that I am a big Pens fan, I am hoping for a repeat of last season.

can't wait.

i think the pens are gonna be great again, but i think philly makes a big jump this year with the addition of pronger, if they only had a goalie they might be the best team in the east.

It will be an interesting season for my Wings. Some of the younger guys are going to have to step up their game because a number of our veterans left this off-season.

They'll make the playoffs, but I'd be surprised if they finish atop the Central this seaon. I really think this could be Chicago's year.

i dunno if the hawks become the team in the west this year.

i think huet is an average goalie, and the defense for the blackhawks isn't good enough to cover up an average goalie (see detroit and chris osgood)

and huet has a bad contract, big money for average play and still 3 or 4 years left on the deal.

the addition of marian hossa could be helpful, but he won't be back until december at the earliest. and the loss of martin havlat could hurt, he was their best player in the playoffs last year, clutch goal after clutch goal.

even still, they are so talented up and down the roster, that at worst, they should still finish in the top 4 playoff seeding for the west.

I watched some of the Wings pre season games and the youngsters were incredible....namely Meech, Abdelkader and Helm. I don't know WTF they were thinking signing Bertuzzi. I think both Pittsburgh and Detroit aren't going the distance simply because they're coming off of 2 long, gruelling seasons.

Chicago will be fun to watch, but I agree that Huet is a liability. The Wings have been able to do it with mediocre goaltending in the past, so who knows.

Here's to another great season!! Go Wings!!

Watched a bit of Montreal v Toronto. Overtime to start the season. High def has brought a whole new level to televised hockey as it has most sports but like most sports you still gotta be there!

I love watching original six teams!!!!!

yeah, but detroit has unbelievable defensemen, as well as forwards who play great defense, backcheck, and do all the little things.

the hawks have duncan keith who's a top shelf defenseman, and the pairing of him and seabrook is great, but after that, you have campbell (who sucks) and forwards like patrick kane who only skate hard at one end of the ice.

so you better have a really good goaltender, khabibulin was a great fit, but the injuries were really killing the team. 2 years ago, last year in the playoffs, it just needed to end, and with huet's ridiculous contract they couldn't try and resign nik

"Hockey's back (time to start pucking)"

I just found the title interesting. I used to play hockey, but calling it pucking is more interesting.

Before me and my wife got married I used to puck a lot. once we got married I didnt puck as much and one we had kids my amount of pucking went way down. Now that my back and knees are bad i havent pucked in a long time.

Rangers actually have some offense this season.. Between Gaborik and Prospal there goal scoring could go way up. Getting rid of Scotty Gomez was a fabulous deal too. Poor Habs..

Also, look out for the Tampa Bay Lightning too. I like what they've done this offseason.
