I didn't really key in on him, but the fact that the Williams' didn't seem to do much and he didn't have any penalties was a good sign and a good step in the right direction.

I wanna see Fraley at RG, Porkchop played some of the worst RG I can remember. Ever pass play, pressure was there instantly from Quinns right all day.
St. Claire is a joke as well, we shoulda kept Shaffer. He may not have been great, but hes light years better than the bum we have now.
Mack was ok, but he needs to get better. I kinda thought he'd be as good as JT was as a rook.

It makes you realize how good Joe is, the guy is elite. It's really hard to do much better then he did as a rookie. I think a reason we got 5 ypc with lewis was Mack, I thought he a had a good game. Shoot, jeff faine whom some folks think was the guy who got away screwed up shotgun snaps for the Browns quite a bit when he was here.
Looks like RT/RG is getting targed for next season. Seeing how they sucked should remind people why we need a good backup QB.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

If we had tuck at guard we'd be killing D's up the middle.

Yeah if Tuck was still here, and then Shaff at RT, we'd have a very good OL. Last years biggest issue was Fraley, but right now hes better than what we brought in.

Thats a joke right? Shoulda kept Shaffer...he is no better at pass protection as St.Clair..No let me lay it straight where it's at..what needed to be done was draft Loadholt..that massive RT is what we need on the right side...and if anyone even bats a eye and says what..start two rookie linemen?..forget it..that kid is going to be a force on that right side..

Shaffer is better than St. Claire..... Shaffer could hold his own against the second tier guys, St. Claire was getting dominated by an average DE in Edwards.
I agree we shoulda drafted a RT and/or a guard, and many other positions, but we took 2 average WR's. Now we're paying.

My guess is we were going to bring him in as depth at a position other than center, and that's not what he wanted.
Complete and 100% speculation on my part.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Shaffer can't even start for a OT-needy team in the Bears.

... until he sucked so bad they jettisoned him altogether and added Shaffer as depth.

one of these years our OL will be so good we won't have to have these silly arguments of which RT sucks worse and to all those who are saying we should have drafted Loadholt....he's young, so he has more of an excuse, but he didn't exactly outplay St. Clair yesterday by any stretch

Fraley is garbage. Thanks Hank for single handedly ending Brady's season last year you bum.
Sorry but GM has every right to speak up. Some of us take it personal when a player here does everything right and gets dissed in this fashion.
He has every right to think Fraley isn't any good. If he chooses to attack him personally we have the right to say what we want..

Actually, it was nothing more than "risky."
It would have been "dumb" if they had failed.
Regarding taking "only" 6th round picks for the trades, it's my personal feeling that they took junk picks for no other reason than to justify not selecting Mack in the existing slot. To put it in blunt terms, they'd have been crucified if they'd have simply passed on taking him in order to take him at a cheaper slot.
I would have called the selection a win had they gotten nothing for the trade-downs. I also can't call the gambles "dumb" when they landed their guy at a price they were willing to pay.
That isn't dumb. It's good business.
Whats good business is collecting NFL prices for a team thats so bad it would be lucky to beat a good college team. Yeah Browns! I'm so happy to be a Cleveland fan. Plain old dumb, no qualifiers required, paying year after year for a sub standard product. Rats! Randy out smarted me again.

Anybody who thinks we should have kept Shaffer is near overdose stage, and should seek medical help.
I agree with attack, we should have taken Mack just like we did; then we should have gone after Loadholt, the guy is a monster. Or we could of gone after Robinson for RG, but I wanted us to DRAFT 2 O Linemen in the face of a fan base that wanted LBers only. I knew the line would bite us in the ass I just didn't know how bad the bite marks would be.
How well the line does will be reflected in how well our QB does......
Oh BTW the reason our QB's looked so bad last season was becuase of the line too. Just in case you can't put 2 + 2 together.
