I happened to have SportsCenter on in the background as I was browsing the Internet tonight, and my ears perked up when the Outside The Lines segment came on and I heard the subjects of the story went to Lincoln West High School, on Cleveland's west side. I watched the story and I have to say it was one of the most inspiring things I've ever watched. It literally brought a tear to my eye.

Did anyone else happen to catch this story? You can read it here (I'd past the text of the article but its rather long), and I believe it has the video segment as well.

Just something I thought I'd share with fellow Clevelanders (and others) to inspire us and add a bit of perspective for many of us.

Not just an inspiration to athletes, but to people of all shapes and sizes. They were talking about Leroy losing his legs and going to a school to wrestle and had to practice with the only person strong enough to handle him, Dartanyon...who they revealed was legally blind...the story got me all choked up

Very moving story

.. " The majority of students at Lincoln-West High School never earn a diploma. This year, the school had a graduation rate of roughly 40 percent.. "

That part blew me away .. As I went to the Old West high way back when .. What a sad commentary on the old neighbor hood ...

Lincoln West class of 1992 right here!! I forgot to watch the segment but will watch it right now. I was there when the LW wrestling program was first being implemented and the first wrestling coach who brought the program to LW was my D line coach on the F ball team. Coach Frank. Coach Frank was a security guard at the school and one time he ran out of the building and grabbed me walking outside when I was supposed to be in class. I thought he was going to let me go because I was his defensive captain and we had a game after school that day. He taught me a lesson by making me sit out the entire first half of that game and made me walk laps around the track while the game was going on. I was humiliated, he made me stand up in front of the team in the locker room and beg to be allowed to play the second half. I have a lot of respect for that man.

he actually built that wrestling program into something to be proud of, the LW invitational tourney has become one of the better tourneys every year.

Its a shame that Dartanyon Crockett isnt going to get a scholarship offer somewhere to wrestle. With only 3 loses you would think he would deserve at least a look at. Any one know why he didn't make it to district or state?
