A friend at work just gave me a copy of the NFL films greatest games featuring the Browns-Jets playoff game in 1986. I'm sure many of you have already seen it in the past. I just loved Bernie's commentary. Bernie's gotta be one of the coolest guys on the planet. But, I digress. The reason I post this is because in the 4th quarter Mark Gastineau sacked Bernie and taunted the Dawg Pound. Does anybody remember or know what they were chanting after that? I couldn't tell on the video. Prolly too vulgar for this forum. Go Brownies!!!

Bernie talked some football in that NFL Network production and it makes you appreciate just how smart he was behind center. I think Gastineau's spear cracked a couple of Bernie's ribs and, of course, he still finished the game. I appreciate how Bernie speaks about how there was no way he was coming out since he felt that the fact that we were losing was his fault.
I have it on DVD. Someone put it up at tenyardtorrents last year and someone else upped the complete game at about the same time. The complete game version included NBC and WKYC interviews at the end, so I combined the NFL network recap with the interviews and rendered all to DVD. I haven't done any torrenting in some time, so maybe I'll put that up at TYT here in the near future.
The post game interviews are great. Young Bernie talking game and even Mosley acting the hero even though he missed several FGs. The WKYC part features a young Jim Donovan getting Mosley as he was walking off the field and later interviews, including Bob Golic. They then go the Flats with everyone chanting "Super Bowl...Super Bowl" (sooooo close ). I think everyone was drinking Bud...LMAO.
NFL Networks did a great job with that. It adds a lot of substance to that game with the interviews from players on both sides...gives you a real feel for the game. A friend at work told me how amazing it was to watch all the folks that left turn around and start back in as word spread that the Browns were coming back.

With all of the disappointment since, I would have to say that, because I really do not remember the 64 Title Game--though I do know that I watched it on TV--that this Game was probably the most gratified I have ever, ever felt about being a Browns Fan, or a 'Cleveland' fan for that matter.

Played on January 3, 1987. - I was 8 years old and I was there!
I still think about this game every week. - Almost every day.
I'll never forget as Mark Moseley lined up for the game winning field goal, people were standing, nervous, excited. - It was awesome. I'll never forget my father's reaction when the Refs signaled that Mosely's game winning kick was good. My father, standing like everybody else, kept pointing down, and kept saying aloud "The best game ever, The best game ever." It was wild.
A little background on the game from what I recall: Bernie threw a late interception that put us in a desperate situation, as it was late in the 4th quarter and we were already down by 3. After our defense stopped the Jets, Bernie threw another interception. - People began shouting for Pagel to be brought in. The Jets took over. Freeman McNeill then drove in the supposed "nail in the coffin" as he bolted down the right side of the field for a long td run. - Browns fans started leaving, Doug Dieken, a play by play announcer at the time, kept saying "I can hear the fat lady singing." We were heartbroken. The Browns were the best team in the AFC that year and had home field advantage locked up through the playoffs. - Big time favorites to win this game. The Browns got the ball back, and Kosar looked as bad as ever. - The shouts for Pagel were getting more common, moreand more people were leaving. Then, for some incredibly stupid, stupid reason, on what I recall as a 3rd down that went for an incompletion, Mark Gastineau planted his facemask into Bernie Kosar's tailbone. - TALK ABOUT A MOMENTUM CHANGER. We got a first down, Kosar got hot, Kevin Mack scored. Our onside kick failed, but our defense held. Bernie Kosar hit my man Webster Slaughter on a deep bomb down to the Jets 5. - We could've won right here, but we ended up being lucky we got the 3 points we did as Bernie almost threw another interception. The game went into overtime and the Jets couldn't recover. Mosely missed a chip-shot that would have won it, but ended up getting a second chance and converted.
After we won, everybody in the stadium kept shouting "SU-PER-BOWL-SU-PER-BOWL-SU-PER-BOWL-SU-PER-BOWL-SU-PER-BOWL" It was pandemonium.- AWESOME!!!!!
Then, next week, dad and I were there again. The Browns had every opportunity in the first half to put Denver away, but Bernie couldn't put it together and ended up throwing a few more costly interceptions. Sure, we were up late, but it never should have been that close. - The same can be said for the AFC championship the following year. - These games were close because we made costly mistake after costly mistake.

I was 8 years old too. I remember my uncle going to the game and I thought it was the Super Bowl.
