Anybody else watching?
Andy Roddick is representing the US against Roger Federer. Roddick is down 2 sets to 1 but got a crucial break point in the 4th set and is now up 5 game to 3 in the 4th. Great match so far!
Edit: Scratch that. Roddick broke Federer's serve to force a 5th set!

You know I have watched some tennis before and actually think it can be entertaining, but I still just cant understand the scoring system. I also find the women to be more entertaining too watch(no,not just Maria Sharapova ) but I think it is because there is more volleying with them rather than the men who just try to blast it past each other. The scoring isn't too tough.
4 points to a game: 15, 30, 40, game.
6 games to a set.
Best of 5 sets to a match (for men; best of 3 for women).
It's always win by two. Games, sets, everything. Deuce means 40-40. Next point is advantage, then either game or back to deuce, depending on who wins the advantage point.
Sets have a max of 12 games (except for final set), so if it goes 6-6, then you play tiebreaker, which is the first two 7 points, alternating serves on the odd point, ie, player A serves the first tiebreaker point. player B serves points 2 and 3. A serves points 4 and 5, and so on. First to win 7 points wins the set (and of course, must win by two). Tiebreaker is probably the most confusing scoring to understand.
Final set doesn't have tiebreaker; instead they play games until somebody has won at least 6 games and won by 2. For example, Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon last year with a fifth set score of 9 games to 7 games.
Actually, I guess that is kinda confusing... Just remember, always gotta win by 2!

Tennis lost me when Borg and Connors were done,....McEnroe was a dork, and now everyone is either a doper or a roid freak.
I just hope Tiger and Phil stay clean.

epic final

9 all in the 5th. Wow. And Federer hasn't broken Roddick once.

Unbelievable it's not like Federer is struggling or having an off day. Roddick is playing his heart out.

Just feel like Roddick has to catch a break here, Federer looks to be wearing down a bit. He's really stuck on the baseline, hoping he can circle and continue to hit his forehand.

Matches like this are great for the game on so many levels. Can Federer become the first man to win 15 Grand Slams? Can Roddick finally defeat Federer to win his first Wimbledon? And either way, even the most casual sports fan has to get sucked into the tension of a match like this.

Ugh, gotta feel for a guy like Roddick. Personable, seems like a great guy, has been busting his tail but just can't catch a break in a major final.

I think Andy is going to wake up screaming after blowing 4 set points in the 2nd.
Still a damn good effort today! Congrats to Roger on 15 majors.

I think he's going to wake up screaming after that kinda low-ball remark that Federer just made.

He said something to effect of "Don't be too sad, Andy, I went through the tough times too". Just kind of unnecessary since Federer has been the player to beat him in each Grand Slam final he's lost, and Roddick's career was derailed by injury for a few years while the biggest setback Federer's ever faced was losing to Nadal in the final at Wimbledon last year.

I have no interest in tennis, except for Maria Sharapova and Daniela Hantuchova, but todays final was edge of your seat stuff. Especially in that final set.
