So I'll throw this one out for discussion.
Were these commercials just Nike pitting the NBA's arguably two biggest stars against one another for sheer entertainment/advertisement or....
Did they jump the gun thinking this was the slam dunk NBA finals matchup the world wanted.
My opinion, Nike bet the farm that these two would go head to head and they could get miles of run out of this ad campaign.
I dont necessarily think it's a wasted ad campaign (close) but believe it certainly lost it's zing when the Cavs fate was sealed.

They are a little lame, BUT the latest one I saw last night with the annoying neighbor kid was actually pretty funny.

Crank Yankers was funny, but its been off air for a few years now, I don't find them (commercials with the Yanker idea) funny.
Don't point a gun at someone unless your ready to pull the trigger.

I've hated these things from the start. They make Kobe look like the cool, collected guy, (with three rings mind you) ... and Lebron look like a complete spaz. They almost look like they were made by a Laker fan. Now that they've effectively jinxed the Cavs out of the playoffs, I want to punch a Nike exec in the face.

I love how annoyed Dwight Howard is by these commercials, like Nike left him out of them...

Oh Nike was definitely betting on a LeBron/Kobe finals... but it's still not a total loss...
Remember the Dan vs Dave commercials leading up the Olympics back in the early 90s? They were supposedly the two best decathletes in the world, both from the US and Reebok spent a bunch of money setting the whole Olympics up around these two... then I believe it was Dan that blew the pole vault in the trials and didn't even make the team..
