DENVER -- Residents of Estes Park have been keeping track of a cow elk in quite a dilemma after she somehow got a plastic chair stuck around her neck.
Kris Hazelton, owner of Estes Park News, said the elk has been wandering around the town sporting the plastic chair. Hazelton said police dispatch has received hundreds of calls from residents who have spotted the elk.
Colorado Department of Wildlife officials have been out to observe her. They said since she is able to eat and get around, the risks of tranquilizing her are too great due to the freezing cold temperatures overnight.
Hazelton said the chair appears to be broken, and DOW officials predict the chair will fall or break off in the next day or so.
If the chair does not fall off, Hazelton said officials will tranquilize her if they think it's necessary.
