I know 1080 looks better for blu-rays, but is there a huge difference while playing games? I would rather not spend the extra cash for a 1080 if there isn't a whole lot of detail I would lose.
Now a blu-ray movie vs. a dvd on a 1080 no question the blu-ray is far superior, but what about games? What are video games? 1080i or 1080p or 720?
Sorry if I don't make any sense.

What size TV? My games look great on my 50 inch 720 Plasma TV. I've seen them in 1080P and really don't notice the differance. I'm sure there is but it so slight. Is it alot better?? Not from what I've seen....to be honest I don't notice the difference at all.

I have a 1080p DLP, I also have a PS3. - I love it.

To answer your question, my good friend is an electronics whiz, and he told me that the difference between 720 and 1080 isn't big at all. - Depending on the price, your not missing out on too much with the 720p.

- If you are going to save over 300.00, I'd go with the 720.

Then again, you can do what I did and what my electronics-whiz buddy did, and not buy a plasma, or lcd, rather, buy a DLP. - Bigger screen and 1080p resolution for about what you'd pay for a 720 plasma.

Talk to me about it.

No problems with the motion? Tracking the golf ball in flight or baseball?
If not, I think I will buy the 720.

Well, speaking from experience with about a 27" LCD HD TV that has a maximum setting of about 1080i, everything I've seen looks outstanding.

As long as your TV does HD, all Ps3 games will look great, at least that's my take on it.

I don't like DLP's. They are ok from straight on, but once you start viewing at an angle they get dark really fast.

I've noticed that a lot of the EA Sports games that I have play in 720p anyway ... so I doubt you would miss a thing.

yeah, the question is, what % of ps3 games support 1080i, or 1080p for that matter?

i would guess 75% of the games only go to 720p.

Color accuracy, contrast, black levels, scaling/processing all come before resolution in importance. The smaller the panel, the less important resolution becomes UNLESS you will be using the panel as a computer monitor (where you'll often be seated within 4ft. of the display, and at a distance that close, you will much more likely notice & appreciate the difference). On a 37" panel, for example, you have to be within 5ft. to tell the difference. And that's under ideal circumstances.

i don't know how true that is since i haven't compared it but what i can tell you is that the games on both the 360 and the ps3 NATIVELY are not 1080p. they're re-scaled by the system to become 1080p so i don't know how much of a true benefit you go from going from 720p to 1080p. that said, that doesn't stop me from wanting to get a 1080p set anyways.

Unless you're going 50" or bigger, or the price difference is small, I would go with 720. You'll never notice...

My TV is 720, and everything looks great as far as the PS3 goes.

My friend has a 1080 full HD, and there's a little difference. It's not as big as you think. And not all games are 1080, some are 720.

Both my TVs are DLP, and I have no problems viewing from an angle at all. I don't sit sideways from my TV, not sure why anyone would, so I couldn't tell you if it is dark that way.

But sitting at the one end of my couch is angled, and there is no difference whatsoever.

If you are going with LCD, then shop for 120Hz refresh rate.
