I think that Hagen was TE coach from 01-03 then in 04 he switched to QB coach and we brought Chud in as TE coach. Either way I hope Mangini knows what he is doing, you dont typically go back to coaching in college after being in the NFL unless you cant find work.
Go Browns!

Says in this article that we are close to getting Matt Eberflus as our linebacker coach. Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS -- Browns coach Eric Mangini is on the verge of filling his vacancy at linebackers coach with Matt Eberflus, defensive coordinator and associate head coach at the University of Missouri. A source familiar with the situation indicated a deal is near.
Eberflus is a Toledo native and former linebacker at the University of Toledo. He has recruited several athletes from Northeast Ohio to the Missouri program. Eberflus' connection to Mangini runs through former Browns assistant Nick Saban, who is friends with Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel.
Linebackers coach is the most prominent vacancy on Mangini's staff.
A second source said the Browns could confirm the appointment as soon as Friday.
Sounds good to me. A defensive coordinator coming to be a linebacker's coach.

they did name that he was an assistant coach at UNC. maybe that means something, maybe not. hopefully he does understand the offense and is part of the "common good" of coaches preaching we've been hearing about.

sounds good to me as well. it sounds as if a lot of our coaching hires are going in the same direction as our head coach's hire. guys who are in the same roles they've had before, on some levels or another. all except daboll. that one i'm concerned about.

Thank goodness cause going into this the only Coach on the staff that I REALLY, REALLY didn't want here was Haluchuck...and here we were with him still here and I was shaking my head saying to myself..."Self, how could you be so wrong about Haluchuck?"
whew...thank goodness is all I can say

So we officially the hiring of our Linebacker coach Eberflus... Quote:
The following iss the press release issued by the Browns on the hiring of their new linebackers coach:
Browns Hire Eberflus as Linebackers Coach
The Cleveland Browns announced the hiring of Matt Eberflus as Linebackers coach today.
Eberflus joins the Browns after spending the last eight years at the University of Missouri, where he most recently served as the Tigers’ Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Safeties Coach. Last season, he capped his tenure at the school by helping the Tigers to a Big 12 North Division championship and a victory over Northwestern in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
Eberflus broke into the coaching ranks at the University of Toledo as a Graduate Assistant in 1992. He then worked on the Toledo staff as a Recruiting Coordinator (1994-95), Outside Safeties Coach (1994-98) and then Defensive Backs Coach (1999-00). In 2000, Eberflus' secondary helped the Toledo defense record 15 interceptions and 16 fumble recoveries, en route to posting the nation’s best turnover margin.
Eberflus was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter at linebacker for Toledo, earning first team All-Conference honors his junior and senior seasons. A captain his senior year, he led Toledo in tackles his last two seasons, making 89 stops in 1990 and 138 in 1991. He received the Nicholson Trophy as a senior for contributing the most toward the success of the team. In February 2004, Eberflus was inducted into the Toledo Athletic Hall of Fame.
Eberflus earned a bachelor of education degree in 1993. Matt and his wife Kelly, who is originally from Cleveland, have two daughters, Grace and Giada.

For what its worth- i think this coaching staff came together quite well. It seems like a good mix of veteran coaches infused with some college guys that should be young and hungry. Time will tell. The OC concerns me the most, the inexperience factor. Can't be any worse then Chud though.
