Well, I can't smack the Steelers for sucking, but I can smack their players for being retards!

The NFL handed the Superbowl MVP trophy to a drug dealing, pot smoking receiver who doesn't know who Vince Lombardi even is. Isn't that great? What a role model!

Super Bowl roundup: Big Ben deserves MVP
February 2, 2009

Wow. Some game, huh? Thoughts and observations on Steelers 27, Cards 23:

How many Jets fans thought of Matt Cassel-to-Randy Moss on the last play of regulation when Santonio Holmes made his tightrope catch in the corner of the end zone?

It was a brilliant, clutch catch, to be sure, but I honestly thought the MVP should've gone to QB Ben Roethlisberger. He was clutch all night, doing the Houdini thing in the pocket. And that last pass was over three defenders, a ball he didn't have to throw. Remember, all they needed was a field goal to force overtime. That pass took guts (or stupidity), but it worked. Imagine if he had thrown an interception? Ralph Brown almost got his hands on it.

***

I attended the Holmes MVP news conference this morning at the downtown media center. Wonder how the NFL felt about presenting its big award to a guy who admitted last week that he sold drugs as a teenager, a guy who was arrested for marijuana possession in October and a guy with two previous arrests.

But, hey, if it could happen to Michael Phelps …

***

I thought Cards O.C. Todd Haley should've gone sooner to the no-huddle. If he had spread the field with four receivers, it might have allowed them to get Larry Fitzgerald involved sooner that the fourth quarter. The no-huddle also would've been physically taxing for the Steelers' pass rushers.

***

Don't mean to brag, but since I was lousy as forecasting games this season, I'm going to take a bow for calling this one. Read back on my previous post, my five reasons why the Steelers were going to win. Not bad, huh?

***

Kurt Warner: Class act.

Bruce Springsteen: Classic act.

***

Nice touch by the NFL, inviting Joe Namath for the Lombardi Trophy presentation. Speaking of which … Twice in this morning's presser Holmes referred to it as the "Dicky Lombardi" Trophy. In the official transcript, it came out as the "sticky Lombardi" Trophy.

***

There was, of course, Brett Favre news on Super Bowl Sunday. SI's Peter King reported on NBC that Favre was told by the Jets that he could have "months" to make his decision. My peeps tell me there could be an announcement in two or three weeks.

As I've said all along, I don't think Favre wants to play for the Jets, but I don't see this being a clean break. If Favre tells the Jets he's retiring, he might ask for his release, perhaps with the idea of signing with the Vikings later in the offseason. Thing is, why would the Jets do that? They gave up a third-round pick. If he plays anywhere in 2009, it should be for them.

Stay tuned.

***

Super Bowl prediction for the 2009 season: The Browns (Eric Mangini) versus the Vikings (Favre). Only kidding, but imagine if it happened. We could call it the Zack Bowl, named after Mangini's infant son - Zack Brett Mangini.

Even with all that stuff, I'd take Holmes in an instant. The guy is a player.

Jamal Lewis has had all those issues and more, yet he has been a great player and leader for us. I'm usually completely against players with character issues, but Holmes' issues haven't effected his play or his team.

Neither did Plaxico's for a long time.

Or Michael Vick's (aka Ron Mexico)

Or even Pacman's at first.

Or Chris Henry.

The point is... They might not have affected the team yet, but they will.

Yes it does, and he helped win a Vince Lombardi trophy, while all Santonio did was help win a "Dicky" Lombardi Trophy

You bring up a good point... I would absolutely hate it if one of the Browns players had some off field issues after winning Super Bowl MVP...

Like I said, they haven't hurt the team yet. But, they will.

And, it's okay to be a thug, as long as you win Super Bowl MVP?

Santonio's problems were before the Super Bowl, not after. Are you saying you'd take a player with this off field resume? Don't give me the Super Bowl MVP crap, either. It's not like Pittsburgh was like "Hey, we'll let it go, since you are gonna be Super Bowl MVP later this year."

Holmes' being an OSU grad has something to do with that.

Win a seventh Lombardi for the great city of Pittsburgh, and you can call it whatever you want Santonio.

Yeah, those Lombardi's with all those asterisks by them....

Like the 4 asterisks in the 70's, and the game handed to them in 2005.

At least this year you were able to win it on your own beating a 9-7 team.

Remember kids, you can still juice, get away with it, and get a Dickey Lombardi trophy for it! Don't be afraid of your balls shrinking and dying of heart attacks by age 50!

Asterisks only to you insignificant little jealous Clown fans from a meaningless hole in NE Ohio that have won nothing in your lifetimes.

Is that right? Link?
And what does a Clown fan know about Super Bowl trophies anyway?
The bottom line is we are celebrating, and you are crying.

Apparently you decided "picture smack" would be next. If it weren't for Google Images, you would have nothing to say.

No, you avoid most large words because "they too big" for you to understand. You post pictures because you can't talk smack by yourself.
