Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced today that guard Michael Redd will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee during the third period of the Bucks win over Sacramento on Saturday, January 24. Redd, 29, underwent an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exam this morning. After evaluation and further testing by Bucks orthopaedic physician Dr. Mike Gordon, M.D., it was determined that Redd will miss the remainder of the season. Surgery to repair the injury will be scheduled at a date to be determined. “I’m deeply disappointed but everything in life happens for a reason and this is God’s plan for me,” said Redd. “I have faith in my teammates and coaches to continue to work together to make our fans proud. I will be supporting them wholeheartedly from the sidelines and working equally hard to return to the court in the best condition possible for next season. “A special thank you to all our fans for their great support this season – my 9th as a Milwaukee Buck. Our team still has work to do and I know with our collective support we can cheer them on to a special season.” In 33 games this season (32 starts), Redd averaged a team-high 21.2 points with 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal in 36.5 minutes. Saturday’s game was Redd’s 550th in a Bucks uniform – 8th in Milwaukee history. This season, he moved into 5th on the Bucks all-time scoring list, passing the 11,000 point mark at Charlotte on January 3; 5th in minutes played and 8th in field goals made. He stands 184 points behind Bob Dandridge for 4th all-time in franchise scoring (11,478); 31 field goals made behind Sidney Moncrief for 7th all-time (4,000); 34 free throws behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for 2nd all-time (2,374); and 19 games behind Glenn Robinson for 7th all-time (568). http://www.nba.com/bucks/news/redd_acl_release.htmlThis is tough for redd. He could miss some time going into next season, if not the whole season. I guess the rumors of him coming here are dead.

Sorry to hear this for a former Buckeye. Well I guess no one will want to get Redd on the Cavs now KING

Now maybe I won't be throwing stuff at my TV yelling for him to pass the ball and not force it up over 5 defenders. Pretty bad when I don't consider the leading scorer to be much of a loss. I can't wait for baseball season

I hate it when people say crap like this. You messed up your knee because of an athletic move. God didn't do this to you for a reason... God has more important things to worry about.

So much for trading for him... anyone else got any "we should trade for him" ideas?

You would think Shaq would be on the block more so than Amare. This is the best Shaq has played in 3 years. he's been their best player this year. Once Nash and Shaq are done, you would think the suns would try to build around amare. if you trade him who do you have???

a boatload of cap space.
shaq's 20 million come off the books this year...
he's been very good, but he doesn't play every game. that's why they could possibly end up in the lottery...
i'm still scratching my head on the trade for shaq, and some of these latest trades, but i honestly think kerr is trying to hit the reset button on the whole thing...
marion wants out, nash is getting old, you get rid of marion and get back 20m in a contract that will expire in 2 years, and still put butts in the seats (it is still shaq)
i've heard they wanna build around amare, but maybe they're just dangling him out there to see if anyone wants to give up a lottery pick, or a young stud...
he's a great player tho.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I think Kerr missed big time when he ran off Dantoni, and brought Shaq in. I know his philosophy is different from dantoni, but he was closer to a championship than what kerr has done, by bringing in shaq and porter. it was only 2 years ago that they were in the conference finals, now they could miss the playoffs entirely. ........... Kerr thought he only had to plan for the spurs, and by getting shaq that would put them over the top over san antonio. little did he know that The hornets, and especially the lakers zipped right past them.
The suns may have peaked 2 years ago, but if they kept that roster in tact for the most part, they would've been better off in 08, and 09. you don't try to change styles by bringing 1 player in. if they want defense they should've traded nash, and amare, since both are terrible at it. if not they should've stayed put.

i honestly think he wants to get away from that entire philosophy, the no defense, shoot early in the shotclock way of thinking which has been proved to not work in the nba...
when teams like the celtics, cavs, and spurs are around, you'll never win a championship playing like that...
i think he wants to go more the traditional defense-first philosophy...
san antonio has had much success because most teams in the west don't play defense, so they saw that as an opportunity...
i think this is the first year where you can't legitimately say the west is far and away better than the east...
i think they're about even, the east is top heavy with the cavs, celts, and magic, and the west is deeper with good teams...
it's been a great year for nba basketball, i find myself watching more games that don't involve the cavs... christmas day was phenomenal...
