well actually, leon williams was a 4th round pick that had us scratching our heads. we all knew we needed linebackers but this guy just didn't seem like a 3-4 player other than he was "athletic," at least that was my reaction. i'm not one to question PS because overall, i still felt he was a good GM but that pick was frustrating. then to hear everyone constantly calling for leon williams to start was baffling. obviously hindsight is 20/20 but leon washington, stephen gostkowski, brandon marshall, elvis dumerveil, dawan landry, etc went after he did. that said, at least the guy wasn't picked in the 2nd round...like chaun thompson.

It seems we failed miserably with a "player's coach"[RAC]...too soft in training and too easy on veterans with regard to discipline and correction.

It also seems to me that perhaps a hardass coach...even one who is not liked by the roster...can do the dirty work of clearing the dead wood that takes positions on this team.

I'd prefer inexperienced but hard working athletes on the field and take a loss rather than experienced players playing out their contracts.

Somehow get us an athletic DE and a well schooled LB like any of the 3 USC guys in the draft and find a nasty safety to punish receivers coming over the middle. Having some enforcers on the D side of the ball might force the receivers to shut up and catch and block like the big boys are supposed to do.

"Seriously the guy was a 5th round draft pick and provides seviceable depth. A guy with tremendous athletic ability"

If you are going to be serious get the draft pick correct...he was a 4th round pick

Tremendous athletic ability??? I don't know what constitutes tremendous but I have not seen the explosion that I associate with tremendous athletic ability. He's not even good on special teams. Outside LB...trust me I read it when you said it before. You can say it several more times it won't make it so. He's just not that good.

4th or 5th not much difference. Forgive me for getting old and having a failing memory.

I never said he was good but a capable backup.

He does have tremendous athletic ability but like I said he (like a lot of workout warriors) cannot translate that to the football field. Excellent athalete, so so football player.
