The workout program is centered around the principle of muscle confusion. It is a kick butt intense program that deals with a lot of pushups, pullups, plyometrics, yoga, martial arts, etc.

I actually get to take in more calories with the diet than I'd normally eat in a day.

I've been on this a few weeks and the changes have already been significant. Anyone else try this?

I'm doing it right now. End of my second week.
Pretty intense stuff, people rag on it, but I say to them try it first I bet they can't finish some of the dvd's.
Plyometrics is pretty rough stuff. But it's fun.

Hopefully gobrowns will see this post. I know she did P90X. It's a little too advanced for me, I'll stick to swimming.

Yep, I started P90X June 16th and finished in Sept. After I was done with the 90 days of insanity I still did the DVD's about 5 days a week. Yes, I became addicted - the results were in a word "amazing"!

I took off about 3-4 weeks over the holidays...then did Plyo this past Tuesday and was shocked how it kicked my butt after just few weeks off. That's my favorite workout -LOVE it!!

I just ordered the Plus series, but haven't started them yet since I took some time off I thought I better get back up to speed before attempting those.

Good luck and stick with it, you will not be sorry.

Dropped 5 lbs and a belt notch this week (my first week).

I actually got through the first week over two weeks ago and then that dang flu hit me and I was down for the count for 2-3 days. Instead of playing catchup I just started over this past Monday.

Six days down, five pounds lost.

This program is intense and it's a shock to the system after being accustomed to 25+ years of pushing heavy weights.

You'll find a few other threads for this program if you search for "power 90" or "p90". Good luck...I know this thing works if you stick with it. I did it for three weeks once and saw an amazing difference.

How much weight or how much muscle did you build?

Really curious about this.

You're not gonna get huge on this, you will build some muscle though.
This is more of a get cut model athlete type looking body program.

There are parts where you use weights, strive to fail in the 8 to 10 range, this is more for size. I don't want to get too much into it, but if people lost their fat and got cut up they will look impressive. Unless you have that mentality that you have to get huge. Big bulking beast type.

But remember, diet is most of it. To see your abs, these are made in the kitchen. Go to beachbody.com and click on P90X. You will learn everything you need to know there. Or just do a google search. You can learn alot on the internet.

Yeah I completed it before my wedding. If you try to make sure to eat healthy as well, it will definitely work. I lost 25 lbs.

I have it and did it for a couple weeks, but I always fail at the diet part. I'm not good at preparing lunches the night before and stuff, and I basically wake up, put on my gym clothes and walk out the door to the gym.

If there was prepackaged meals, I'd have no problems

But just hitting the gym 4 days a week for 30-45 mins each, I went from a 34" to a 32-33" waist, feel better, and have more energy.

I'm a P90X'er. I haven't been able to finish the 90 days yet. I started back in the middle of October then broke my pinky toe over Thanksgiving. I then got the flu shortly after that.

I'm back to doing the discs every day and I can really see the difference (I was 163 during the holidays and I'm 155 now).

The diet is tough......not the eating, the planning. In my opinion, I control my portion size, protein consumption and junkfood/alchohol intake good enough....but I know it could be a lot better. I don't track my calories. I have a 14-month old, a wife, a fulltime+ job, I do most of the cleaning and cooking and workout once a day......counting calories, weighing food and preparing meals a day in advance is just not in my schedule (maybe if I won the lotto).

As far as the workouts go, they're amazing! Plyo is AWESOME!

I created 10 goals for the end of April:

1. Run a sub-22-minute 5K
--------Best is 23:07 – set 2 years ago
2. Perform 100 pushups (No knee breaks)
--------Current best was 47
3. Perform 25 overhand pull-ups
--------Current best is 12
4. Perform 50 reverse grip chin-ups in 3 sets
--------Current best is 26
5. Add 1.5 inches to my biceps
--------Starting measurement taken in beginning of Nov
6. Finish the Ab Ripper & Abs/Core Plus discs with no skipped mvements
7. Finish the Yoga X disc with no skipped movements
8. Bench press my weight plus 30% 3 times
9. Perform every move in the Plyometrics routine without modifying (bonus moves too)
10. No junkfood or booze (except for my two snowboarding trips in Feb and my birthday)

I have a friend that raves about this program. I would try it but it's a little bit out of my price range.

I do martial arts, cardio work and work with weights. I've lost 20 lbs and 4 waist sizes so far. Not too bad

Somebody needs to grow a set.

If you're keeping up with the workouts with all that going on, that's impressive. Keep it up.

I'm not advocating but there are places that you can get it online for free.

The diet isn't very difficult because I'm used to eating that way and it's actually more food than I'm accustomed to.

I stay in the 8-10 range on reps so I can go heavy with the weights.

On chest/back & shoulder/bi/tri days I don't even use the DVD's anymore because I'm done 3-5 exercises before they are. I like to take less time between sets.

My energy levels are through the roof on this and the jeans are much looser.

I highly recommend this to anyone.

I'm pretty much *completely* out of shape. I was in really great shape a couple years ago, but I had surgery on my ankle and that pretty much sent me to lazy-ville.

I play basketball one night a week in a league, but that's about it.

So, my question is, do you have to already be in good shape to start this, or is it "easy" enough at first for anyone to start?

You can go at your own pace. If you get worn out, you just press "pause" on the old DVD player.

I believe there's a P90 that can be done prior to this (not as difficult).

I'm not gonna fool you though...it's not easy.

Oh, I didn't think it was easy, and that's not what I'm looking for. To be honest, I had never even heard of this program. But, I just know that I need to get back into things.

No...I wasn't implying anything by the "easy" comment.

This program takes me back to my high school football two-a-days and pro wrestling school days (level of difficulty).

Like devildawg said, you can press pause and they encourage you to do that if you need a break. I've done it. Every week that goes by though you will find yourself hitting pause less and less.

It's a pretty rough program. It pushes you with little rest in between exercises.
Just go at your own pace and you'll adapt to it over time.

put it this way...i'm an ex army ranger of 10 years..and i found the program challenging..got me back into loving to work out. And when you finish the p90x program, you can move on to lean, or doubles version where you do 2 workouts a day with one of them being a cardio. lean is a scaled back version more for maint. Then you can move on to P90X plus which is pretty nice as well and very challenging. If p90X is too much for you, there is the original P90 which is a good starter if you are unsure of your fitness level or aren't ready for p90x..that being said, you get what you put into it, you can coast or you can BRING IT, its all on the individual..most troubling thing for people is the diet..don't let it get in your way. You have to make it your own, you aren't like everyone else, that's what great about the program, its' very modular. Ask your coach if you have one, or you can PM me and i'll be happy to answer any questions anyone has about any phase of it. been a p90x coach for about a year now..i've created custom diet/routing excel sheets and workouts for my people. If anyone is interested in what i have..PM me..

I didn't know about P90 before I ordered P90X, so prior to starting P90X I did other workout DVD's for about 2-3 months - like Hip Hop Abs and some of the Biggest Loser ones. Bob & Jillian can kick you into shape too!

Like I said earlier, I took about a month off and boy am I feeling it. This morning I did KenpoX which had gotten pretty easy for me, but I was having a rough go at it. I'm going to stick with some of the cardio for the next couple days, then Monday start the 90 days over again.

You can adjust the diet to your lifestyle, I have a full-time job, two children and housework as well. I just try to following the number of servings of protein, fat, carbs, etc they recommend - so usually I make dinner fit my needs, while maybe adding other items (like garlic bread or whatever) for everyone else to eat, or I just eat less. I also gave up all junk food and alcohol.

I'm a 44 year old female and after the 90 days I was in the best shape I'd been in since before having my kids. Most people guess my age to be late 20's.

I apologize for rambling - I just can't say enough about this program!

Before After

Seriously, I took my before photo in October.....but I'm still in month 2 of the program due to a broken pinky toe over Thanksgiving. I'd post that picture but I might blind the board with my pale skin.

I also have to say by the way that I'd love to go out for a beer with Tony Horton, although I'm sure he'd only drink water.

"Drink your water people!", in most every DVD.

On some days, I think I hear his voice more than I hear my own wifes.

Haha, he's really funny on what I think is the Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps DVD where he looks like he's about to come out of the TV:

"Maximum....MAXimum.....MAXIMUM.....REPS!"

tony is exactly the same in real life, a friend told me a story about tony, he was vacationing in hawaii, and he took the stairs in the hotel instead of the elevator and who passed him on the way down..tony, tony didn't know my friend from adam and said..."Gotta love a guy that takes the stairs, keep bringing it" always motivating..tony works out on the beach every sunday, you probably hear him mention his sunday workout buddies, its true every sunday. My buddy actually flew out there from ohio to workout with him in person. Said it was the greatest time. So yeah tony rocks

I laughed my arse off the first time I did the Kenpo dvd.
At the end when he was pitching the ball left handed, he said don't make fun of me and when I saw it, I was crying with laughter!
