Now that the Steelers and Ravens are the true rivals in the North, who is our rival? Add that to the GM search and the assistant coaching searches. The Browns rivalry with the Steelers ended when they started to feel sorry for us.

Rivalries are easily started up again. If we begin to win again the rivalries will come back. You don't just go "search" for a new rival, they start up naturally with winning, hard played games, and fights for the division lead and in playoffs.

Exactly... the reason why our rivalry isn't as strong right now is because the competition hasn't even been close. You can't have a rivalry with horrible games every year. As soon as we become good again and start competing for the division, the rivalries will be back and thriving.

The Browns have to re-establish an IDENTITY before a rivalry.

Right now...we are our own rivals.

It will only take one Steelers loss to us to crank things up again... have no fear...

Rival n. One who attempts to equal or surpass another, or who pursues the same object as another; a competitor.

By that definition, the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals are our rivals. And we're rivals of theirs too. As well as everyone else in the league.

As far as how you're using it, maybe it's only the Bengals for us right now.

Like I said in another post, change and the NFL are always sharing the same bed. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Browns on top of the North division in 2009. Remember, the Ravens stunk and we had 10 wins last year.

Agreed,...the "rivalry" certainly wasn't gone in last season's 10-6 game.

This rivalry will always exist just based on its geography, let alone NFL history.
