I was actually looking to better my fantasy team as I'm one win from the Super Bowl when I noticed Braylon's numbers jump out at me. Listed below is the number of times the player has been thrown to followed by the number of receptions he has. We are not good at getting the ball to our WR's. (I threw our TE's in there just for giggles - we're better at getting the ball to them). For comparison I've listed Matt Cassell's receivers, then our division (not complete) and some selected receivers in the league (just kinda' threw darts to select them). BE 120 & 45 (but his drops are no worse than last year) Stallworth 33 & 14 Steptoe 36 & 19 Cribbs 7 & 2 Sanders 6 & 1 KW2 82 & 43 Heiden 42 & 23 Randy Moss 109 & 61 Welker 128 & 97 Jabar Gaffney 57 & 33 Derrick Mason 99 & 65 Mark Clayton 66 & 30 TJ Housh 131 & 89 Chad Johnson 89 & 50 Hines Ward 99 & 61 Santonio Homes 92 & 44 Nate Washington 60 & 31 Ted Ginn 79 & 48 (Ted freakin' Ginn is making us look bad) Anquin Bolden 117 & 83 Lee Evan 85 & 52 Donald Driver 90 & 57 Andre Johnson 138 & 92 Terrell Owens 113 & 55 Santana Moss 107 & 61 Isaac Bruce 80 & 44 This was our bread and butter last year. Getting the ball down-field. This year I think we were hampered by bad QB play, stronger D's, less time to throw (OL play) and the loss of JJ with the lesser replacements of Stallworth & Steptoe (although Steptoe catches more of 'em that's thrown his way). To defend all the balls thrown at BE, I think he's been the only guy who's even looked like he might get open...plus he's a big target. Yes, we need LB's badly...first and foremost...but we gotta do something about getting passes to WR's caught more often.

I agree. We need help at WR, LB, CB, DE, and probably RB. There's a lot of improvement needed in one off-seaon.

Not sure if I voiced it back then, But I would have been against trading straight up for Boldin last year at this time.... I mean, BE was winding down a Pro Bowl like season..
Why trade one Pro Bowler for another... who knew that BE would fall from Grace so quickly?

Easy answer....body language and the type of receiver he is...too inconsistent to be a go to guy...last year BE was a flash player for "boom" plays...the go to guys were KW and JJ, remember? I somwhere posted this exact stat from last year as an argument for that trade...153 targets and 80recs....his % was one of the worst also last year...he wasn´t all that reliable, most of you just overlooked it in joy and excitement of our "surprise" season I guess
try asking ARI now for that trade...they would

Well hell, its easy to say that now., Hindsight is a wonderful thing...
Look, most everyone was thinking that BE was perhaps bust material at the start of last season... But as is sometimes the case,, second or third year guys, get a new position coach (wes chandler) and boom, they hear a different voice and take the step forward..
That's what it looked like with Edwards last year.... Now, it's easy to sit there after the fact and say,,, "see, I knew he was a bust" all you want,, but coaches, players, GM's and all the talking heads and Fans that voted for him as a Probowler,, didn't agree with you..
So either this is revisionist thinking or you are a genuis who can read a crystal ball better than anyone on the planet,, I suggest that if it's the latter, there are better ways to put that talent to use rather than this...... But, that's JMO

Not saying you're wrong at all, but what would make you think that Arizona would have taken that trade in the offseason?

Whenever I read one of these I automatically think - Well It must of been me...
I know I don't know "who you are" but spell it out so I won't feel guilty about half the stuff that comes out...lol hey, name names...its ok.
I personally don't think its justified to claim a Win/loss in one of these yet...there is a lot of football probably in both of their careers.
BE caught 16 TD passes last year. and around half of them were pretty incredible catches.
Now we got this terrible season where the entire offense is doing bad including BE.
Possibly the reasons why BE was held in such acclaim last season might resurface in his career.

And why I wouldn't want to trade him...actually it would be "STUPID" to trade him. A lot of things...GO UP N DOWN, possibly that could be BE's undoing on getting him the acclaim he seeks (HOF status) if he turns out to be inconsistent...obviously it would be WISE to trade him on one of his I'm sure many...UPS to get the best value.
Its like stocks...only the sucker who never makes a buck will Buy high and Sell low.
Well we cannot be a sucker.
On the other hand I do think KW2 is a tradeable commodity. Without the emergence of Rucker we have proven that our offense can work well without him. What KW2 shows in Individual impact he seems to lack in his "Team" qualities - Discipline route running, blocking, etc.
Also his agent would welcome a trade as long as it comes with a new contract.
Draft pick...I don't think we would do better than a 2nd. Player for player - I now would love a Boldin for KW2 straight up trade.
BE is coming close to his 2nd contract negotiations. Having another WR stud here and signed for a long term contract would put all the leverage in our court.
