Dunta Robinson.

He was a former first/second rounder wasn't he? Has he been a major disappointment in Houston? Would he be worth bringing in here?

Thanks for doing that 214.. it did make it easier to read... Thanks

Off the top of my head it's hard to tell what we need on D. I mean, are we going to stay with the 3-4 or move to a 4-3? Either way, we'll need some LB's and another CB and/or Safety.

On Offense,, It's pretty clear we either need a #2 Receiver or a #1 receiver or Both if Braylon doens't get his head out of his butt and learn to catch the damn ball. I'm thinking TJ Howsyourmama (sorry, cant help it, it cracks me up)

We need a replacement for J. Lewis.. I love the guys attitude,, but I think he's done. We have Harrison who I would love to see more of, but still we need a big back. I'm thiking the best would be Brandon Jacobs...

Not sure what to do with TE.. we are rather deep there.. Resign Dinkins I would suppose.. Trade KW2 (man that hurts to say, but damn, he's trouble waiting to happen) Hopefully, in the next couple of games, we can find out what Rucker is made of. He made a catch last week...

Oline.. I think we are solid on the left side.. I worry a little about Center. Ya gotta love the hankster. But is he really the right guy now?

On the right side of the line, we don't have a stud without Tucker and even with Tucker, who by all accounts made a huge difference in line play, he's getting older and will eventually need replaced.. most likely sooner than later.

Hadnot or McKinney are good guys and hard workers and would provide depth, but we need a stud at RG as well.

Stacy Andrews comes to mind as one fix.. I don't have an opinion on who else might fit.

Way to early for me to think this way...

Thanks for the lists, guys.

IMO, it's tough to say right now what's going to be available because you know that teams are gonna be slapping tags on some of these guys or re-signing them. I mean, do you really think the Giants are going to let Jacobs walk? Or are the Panthers really gonna let Peppers walk?

But, there are a lot of big names out there. The problem is that it would take a lot of money to sign them. But, we've been willing to do it before, and we've been pleasantly surprised with Savage bringing in big names.

I don't think we will be able to get Jacobs cause I think NY will resign him.

But I do have an interesting idea. With Oaklands slew of runningbacks and offensive line woes I would like to see us trade Schaffer to Oakland for Michael Bush and then sign a fa to replace him.

I think it would be a perfect fit. Not sure how the contract's would match up though. Schaffer might have to re-structure.

A lot of guys on that list that are attractive. But since I'm a self proclaimed OL nut.

Colombo RT
Jordon Gross RT
Marques Johnson...always liked him - lol Depth
Marvel Smith RT
Tre Thomas RT

would the last two be willing to make the switch to end their careers and probably lengthen it as well.

I think we should take a good look at LBers. Willie Mac had zero tackles and 1 assist. DQ had 12 tackles but most of them downfield. Tenn rushed for something like 250 yds so its a little tough to get excited aboutDQ at MLB.

I'm not excited about Jackson..but since he's practically the face of the LB unit..he'll be here.

DQ certainly has holes in his game, but I think he's a legit starter. A superstar? No, not yet at least.

I guess we'd have to see how many of his "downfield" tackles were made "downfield" because of his error, versus him hustling to track a guy down.

*Edit* And hey, we may need to keep him around for the sole fact that he has better hands than a few of our WRs!

So he's the new Andra Davis?

Naw, he's gotta be better than that!

DQ has gotten better and better as the season progressed and thats with our Offense going down the tubes. But he's one of the main reasons our Defense has looked as good as it has the last few games.

And its his Explosion into the Gaps that I've seen the biggest improvement...but he is getting better in his Pass Defense - the 2 INTs are no fluke.

Oh and lets not forget he's leading the NFL in tackles. Sure we've had a couple in the top 10...but he's LEADING the NFL not a common happening...unless I missed something. But its not Rainer...making tackles 5-10 yards downfield. Last 2 games there have been several times where there's a CRACK!! near the LOS and everytime its been DQ coming in.

Give him upgrades at the other LB positions and you'll see how good he is.

my somewhat reasonable wish list:

Chris Simms Tennessee UFA QB i expect anderson to be traded. good luck to him.

Shaun Cody Detroit UFA DT he doesn't start over there, maybe change of scenery could help him develop.

Gabe Watson Arizona RFA DT unlikely that he doesn't get signed, well hopefully they spend all their money on boldin.

Terrell Suggs Baltimore UFA OLB if they let us sign this guy baltimore sucks. great player.

Nnamdi Asomugha Oakland UFA CB likely another pipe dream.

Daven Holly Cleveland UFA CB hope he's recovering well.

Dunta Robinson* Houston UFA could happen. the Texan's D really should be better than they are based on all the talent.

Mike Adams Cleveland UFA S deserves to be re-signed, particularly if we lose jones.

Sean Jones Cleveland UFA S if we draft taylor mays he becomes fodder.

Brandon Jacobs New York Giants UFA RB he'll get signed by the giants.

Jim Kleinsasser Minnesota UFA TE for no other reason than to scream FLYING SAUCER!!! at my TV.

Matt Birk Minnesota UFA C everybody else around here wants him too.

looked like there was a lot of servicable guards and several guys that would upgrade our RT position. i think we really just need a much better RG and a C and it's a pretty good line.

i didn't list haynesworth because i don't believe we can afford him. suggs would unquestionably be a huge coup. don't really expect him to be available.

it'll be interesting to see if there are any cap casualties after the season.

would to point out that the gabe watson above is not the guy that killed his wife diving in australia.

On the D-Line, I could see us purging everyone but Rogers & Williams and adding more athletic DE's like Canty & Olshansky. For some reason, RAC likes the fat boys at DE and they aren't cutting it against the run. Heck, look at the Steelers, their DE's are 285-305 lbs. This is all contingent on sticking with a 3-4 after RAC is gone.

I know it sounded like I was knocking DQ. But actually I think he is our best LB, and a lot of his downfield tackles are "hustle" tackles. He does get blocked often and fills the wrong holes quit a bit.

Terrel Suggs

I would LOVE to have T.J. and Scott, but I don't want either of their attitudes on the team. Scott used us to sign with the Ravens and said Cleveland stinks. T.J. is just an ass.

there comes a point in a teams development when you dont or cant sign players who are in the top 5 on the FA list, it starts happening where you have to sign the best of the serviceable players, I dont know if were there yet, i dont know our budget, but it wouldnt suprise me to see us go after more affordable players than high profile players, I do see alot of player movement this year.

Players going

KW....traded
DA.....traded
A. Davis....Not resigned
S.Jones....Not Resigned
W.Mcginnis..Retired
Shaffer.....Traded
Stallworth..Released after he's asked to restructure his contract.
Tucker...Retired

there are others but they mostly play special teams & reserved roles. K.Griffith ect.

I do think we take the money Winslow & DA want or signed for and use it to shore up our defence and add depth in our O-Line.

clay...I'm gonna add another name to your list of players to trade...Braylon Edwards.

It's obvious to me, Edwards is not happy in Cleveland and would rather be traded than stay here. Braylon will be in a contract year without an extension after this season is over.

He's going to want a ton of money to stay, perhaps much more than he is worth. The way I see it, the only way Braylon stays is if he is happy with the upcoming changes but I doubt even a Bill Cowher would make Braylon happy in Cleveland...I say send him to Wolverine territory, where he won't have to worry about us Buckeyes...or any team that will give us the best deal for him.

This is the year that it needs to be mixed and matched...
Phil has set a pattern of trying to fill the biggest holes in FA and then turn to the draft.
Where he's batting .000 is signing FA LB's..he's struck out swinging..soooo it could be that he's faced with that same situation(if he's doing's the drafting for us)..so I would be banking on getting a quality LB like Curry/Maua/Sintim/Brinkley a combo of any of those would help.

KW....traded
DA.....traded
A. Davis....Not resigned
S.Jones....Not Resigned
W.Mcginnis..Retired
Shaffer.....Traded
Stallworth..Released after he's asked to restructure his contract.
Tucker...Retired

Just my opinon, nothing more nothing less, an in reality it means even less what I wrote as it's not up to me, Who knows if or how some will leave, but in reality I just hope a few of those leave, Kinda like the old statement, I dont care if you run, walk or crawl out of here, just get out of here.

The problem is replacing a lot of these guys..it also means we need two more draft picks..trading two or more could get those 3rd and fifth rounders we don't have.

Sorry you would get ignored as what you posted although thought out just is totally Unrealistic - just on the Cap situation. But also this team just doesn't need THAT MUCH turnover.

FA...One or Two guys that are considered starters.

Possibly more in positions of need on a player that was not being utilized on the team he was leaving so that he is not that expensive. But by more I'm saying One or Two.

And again...Every Starter you bring in via FA you will have to OVER PAY...we would be so far in hock that the team would be ruined for years. What you would create if ONE QUARTER of the players you show we got in FA actually did come on board - A ONE AND DONE SEASON...and with so many playing together for the first time - lack of team UNITY - The likelihood of success even with a FA ALL STAR TEAM....would be slim to none.

Btw - the Yellow Brick Road leads to the Draft

I wonder what NE Patriots will do with Cassell...sign him big bucks to keep him or let him go and hope Brady fully recovers?

Dunta Robinson.

He was a former first/second rounder wasn't he? Has he been a major disappointment in Houston? Would he be worth bringing in here?

Major disappointment? The Texans LOVE him... he had a major knee injury last year that should have knocked him out of football... he had a fantastic rookie year with 6 INTs... he was an immediate starter and just recently worked his way back into a starting job. I think he's going to have a great year next year. He's only played in I think 8 games this year, but has looked good and shown glimpses of his old self. He's lost a step though... so if he can get his speed back he's poised for a big year.

I don't see any chance the Texans let him go. Their DBs overall are poor and Dunta is one of the favorites here in Houston with maybe only Mario being loved more.

Also, I saw some people wanting Daniels... fantastic TE... one of the favorite go-to guys for either QB here in Houston... especially when Johnson was hurt... no way Texans let him go either. I expect both guys to sign deals to stay in Houston.

I wanna know what they are going to do w/ Jabar Gafney... I think he could help our receiving core out a lot.

Sure he'd help them out...by giving the fans a new Whipping Toy as he disappoints them with his numerous drops and mistakes. I'd give it 2 games before we start hearing... from the Crowd.

Have you seen him play? He does get separation but he's not that good. And you'd have to Over Pay.

Cassel...first I'm sort of happy that his Dad finally got to see him start a game (since HS) in a big time program before he passed away.

I think the Pats got to sign him - Brady had the dreaded Staph Infection on his knee which has required more work. With that much question about him and the possible fragility considering he does stand in there and gets hit a lot. I think they would be foolish to let him get away. Unless they think he stinks and was a product of the system??? Or trade for DA

I thought since he was a little older, and not that big of a threat.. He would be good quality depth. Something we don't have at the moment. And he shouldn't cost that much.

Derrick Ward! 216 yards v. Carolina tonite...Instrumental in winning this game

but, for the upcoming free agency, and the lack of production from our RB position, and this man becoming a free agent in March...this is a man i think we seriously need to look at.

It worked for the Falcons getting Turner, and while im not comparing the two, this is a guy who hasnt taken much of a beating in his time in the league but has shown the ability to be a very good runner.

Derrick Ward for 09! please!

I agree that Ward would be a very nice acquisition, but lets be honest...this team has much bigger needs then at the running back position.

Ward would be an upgrade over Wright for sure. Possibley over Lewis. The team would be better with him and then it would allow them to target other positions in the draft. But I dont think he would be the Browns #1 FA priority. I say that because the teams top FA pickup shouldnt be spent on a RB. Lewis didnt do bad considering that even the Bengles knew that Lewis running the ball was the teams only offense.

I would say that targeting a Bart Scott to replace one of our current LBs would be a bigger priority.
