I had to put my dog down today, Lewie was 8 years and 10 months old, I was blessed to have such a good hearted Rottie, he loved to be around people and loved to have little kids play with him, I will miss him dearly.

I feel so badly for you, I really do. I'm sure you have just a ton of wonderful memories.

RIP Lewie.

Hopefully doggie heaven has plenty of rabbits to chase .... smells to smell .... the finest in doggie cuisine ..... and all of the love that our dogs give us over their lifetimes is returned to them eternally.

Aw, sorry to hear. My dog just turned 5, and I got to thinking that some dogs only live a few years or so more than that. Couldn't imagine not having him around. I wish they'd live longer than they do. Hang in there bud.

Sorry for your loss, I know your pain sixty-two.

Rotty's are such wonderful dog's, hardly the mean aggressive stereotype they are stuck with in most cases.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When a pet dies - one that's been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable, fear and worry free.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and the vigor of youth. Those who were abused, hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again just as we want to remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them - someone who had to be left behind. That someone who was kind, gentle and loving. That someone who took the extra step, stayed the extra minute, reached out and touched with love, even once.

The animals all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look into the big, trusting eyes of your special love, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Sorry to read of your loss. To many people pets are not just animals they are family members and losing one can be devastating. Good luck during your healing process.

Having been there a few months ago myself, I feel your pain. It's a pain that I personally had never felt before and wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's not easy. You'll be told time will help and it does.

I just recently had to put my childhood dog down. She was 15, best German Sheppard I have ever known. I feel your pain, you just have to remember that every good thing comes to an end and to be as absolutely as corny and cliche as I can be "this too shall pass"

Sorry 62. I'd feel really bad if even my cousin's dog died, I can't imagine what it'd be like for your own.

I'm so sorry for your loss 62 Like Jaft said animals are a part of our family and it's extremely tough to lose a loved one.

Well at least if he was sick he isn't suffering anymore.
