What foul language have you seen? The word ass, for example, isn't considered foul on this board. Neither is the word sucks. It's a good thing because they're two of my favorites!

You can say "damn" and "hell" and that kind of stuff. Basically, most of what you hear on network television flies here as well. I haven't seen anything "foul" here. I'm curious as to what your definition of that is.

NOTHING varies from poster to poster.**
End of Story.

There are a few on here that will whine and grumble that they're a "helpless, innocent victim" and being targetted... the phrase that comes to mind for those individuals is "Me thinks he doth protest too much". I don't do much direct moderating, I try to stay out of it because I don't have the temperament for it (if I let it be up to me, a LOT of folks would have already been tossed permanently)... but what I have seen of those people that are doing most of that complaining is people, entirely through their own actions on here, who have brought the attention to themselves.

The rules pertaining to this are:

Quote:

PROFANITY
Please refrain from using profanity in your posts, there are people of all ages that peruse these boards, and that type of language is not necessary. A word filter is used for some words, and these words when typed will be replaced with "[censored]". Masking of the words is discouraged as well, i.e. "pi$$ed off". Profanity of any kind that is included in a topic title will cause the thread to be deleted. Posts of a sexual nature are also deemed as not allowable. Keep in mind that fans of all ages peruse this site; jokes or posts of a sexual nature are not appropriate for any forum on this message board.

VULGARITY AND/OR OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE
At no time will vulgarity or offensive language be permitted. Any use of such, even conversationally, will result in an extensive suspension of board privileges. What is and is not in this category will be at the sole discretion of the Site Administrators & Moderators. Common examples would include (but are not limited to) racial epithets or slurs, and words or phrases of a discriminatory or demeaning nature.

The 'Rule of Thumb' on here is to keep it PG-13 or in line with what you would see/hear in your typical Prime-Time Broadcast TV SitCom.
Are things allowed to slide from time to time, and/or just go unnoticed or just get more lax than they probably should? Absolutely. They do. We're human, we're as limited on time, interest and patience as anyone and everyone else.

All of it is subjective and open to interpretation, just about every last bit of it... and like it or not, YOU are not the one that gets to do the interpreting. AND, you will disagree at times with things, but so do we. Ref to Ref, we don't always see eye to eye on things. We'll correct things where we can and we'll err on the side of caution where we need to. *Everything* is done on a case-by-case, post-by-post basis.

** With that said, if you have been warned one or more times about something (or have just been around long enough to know better) and continue to do things, the hammer will fall harder than it will for someone that is new. If you are being openly blatant in "testing" the rules or the Refs... you're most definitely going to be making yourself a target. Like life, you get back what you put out for others.

If you're looking for a perfectly consistent application of everything at all times, your expectations are completely and TOTALLY out of whack. It is only a handful of people working on a volunteer basis as they are able to that keep this thing going. They're an amazingly diligent bunch that I wish I could compensate somehow.

I happen to know, for a fact, that you cannot call someone an ass, but you CAN say someone is acting like an ass.

(I still have my warning pm from a ref indicating as much). Good news is, I learned something. (after I called someone the a word )

If you need to ask, you apparently haven't read enough of my posts.

Actually, though, it might have been Michelle, but I don't remember for sure. I just know it was wrong.

I don't know how many ref's it was going to take to give me the boot, but I remember how many they were going to use. (sorry, just a little Ron White humor).

I'm not worried about foul language ..... but don't start that fowl language.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
