I know there aren't many if any LAKERs fans on here...but i just had to post this because i can't believe he actually said this lol...it's in LA times so it must be true.

Los Angeles Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said recently that he is considering making Lamar Odom the team's sixth man this season. The Lakers convened this afternoon for a media session in El Segundo before the start of training camp Tuesday and Odom voiced his disdain for Jackson's idea.

"He must have woke up and bumped his head. He probably hit his head on something -- boom," Odom said about Jackson. "To start off like that, you've got to be out of your . . . mind."

Odom, from his grade school days in New York City to high school to college and during his nine years in the NBA, always has been a starter.

While not a Lakers fan I am a Lamar Odom fan, owning all of his jerseys since he came into the league. I hope he isnt a 6th man, always thought he was a great player and highly undervalued.

I am a diehard Laker fan and can't undertand this at all. Odom does play like he is just passing time sometimes, but he is an excellent player when he allows himself to be motivated. The only thing I can think of is the "Zen Master" is lighting a fire under Odom (as opposed to the joint in his mouth )

I just fail to understand accepting fate sometimes. What's the probelm accepting a lesser role as you "age," and don't take a big pay cut,...when even a big pay cut leaves you a millionaire ??

What's really the difference in 6th man and starter? If you're still getting the minutes, your team is competitive and the checks aren't bouncing.....who freaking cares if you're on the bench to start the game?

I'd be more upset about being benched during the end of the game.

What? how old is odom ? he isn't that old..hell he is in his prime...i think he s younger then kobe...

Me either...i don't get it at all...i guess he could be trying to motivate him...but what odom said is funny as hell you have to admit lol....HE BUMPED HIS HEAD?
