Everyone I know personally that I would run this trade by is in the keeper league where it has been proposed - so i can't say anything to them.

Like I stated - it is a keeper league. We freeze 2 offensive players and 1 IDP player each year. I've had LT since he before he was even starting for San Diego - drafted him in like the 10th round. I have won the league twice in the 7 years it's been in existence.

This year I had hoped to compete again - my offensive freezes were LT and Larry Johnson. The WR's I drafted were Colston, Santonio Holmes and Dwayne Bowe. Well, Colston got hurt with a freakin thumb injury and Holmes hasn't lived up to the hope I had for him. LT was hurting and KC just plain stinks. So already I'm in last and 150 points away from the leader.

In a way I feel like I could still make a push, but when you look at the top team with Romo. Barber, Burress, Jennings & Fitzgerald who are scoring big every week it doesn't look good for me. And in this league, basically you want to win it all or finish last, there is really no benefit to finishing in the middle somewhere.

Knowing I probably had to start getting some younger guys to freeze I drafted Chris Johnson, Tenn RB who it looks like is really explosive and should be the "the guy" there. Fatdale has been getting the goal line touches so far, but I see CJ taking over evenutally.

So anyway, here is the trade offer:

I give up LT
Get - 1st and 2nd round draft pick in next years draft and Mendenhall from the stinkers. He is also a young RB with freeze potential, plus I would still have Larry Johnson (if I don't trade him later)

I know that's a lot of info to take in but I'd appreciate anyone's take on it.

Thanks!
Sue

p.s. Obviously the person offereing the trade is trying to win it all this year, so his first round pick would most likely be at the bottom of the order and this 2nd pick would be towards the top of the round. Plus, if I finish low I would be picking early in the 1st. I already traded Aaron Rodgers (who I drafted in round 13 or 15 this year) for a 2nd round draft pick next year. So if I make the trade as it stands right now I'd have 5 picks in the first two rounds.

You say you are in last and 150 points from the leader, you also state there is no benefit in finishing half way? How does your league work? How many teams make the playoffs?

It is a 12 team league where the points leaders is the Champ. You get the big bucks. a ring and bragging rights.

We also have the playoffs which is 8 teams. That Superbowl winner gets some payoff, but it's not as much as points leader.

Basically it don't mean a thing if you don't win the the ring.

Thats a different league setup!?

I dont know if I would trade LT. He still has a number of years left in the tank and is a FF stud. If you did get a high pick from the trade what level of player would you be looking at? would they be better than LT? Building for the future is fine but I know so many FF GMs that always build for the future and never actually compete in the now!

IMO I would hold tight and add to LT with your high 1st next year.

I'd have a hard time pulling the trigger on that one go. I agree with what English said.

I disagree that LT has a number of years left in the tank. He turns 30 before camp opens up next year, and that is very old for a RB.

I didn't pull the trigger and Mendenhall has since been dealt. Sometime before the trade deadline I should trade one of my RB's since we can only freeze 2 offensive guys. LT, Larry and Chris Johnson - it will be tough to part with any of them.

Thanks for my pals for responding.

I would trade LJ if I were you. In a keeper league there is absolutely no reason to trade LT.

Is your league ppr? If so then Chris Johnson is my first keeper and LT is my second.

IMO the trick in fantasy football is finding out what value other GMs place on your players ... this may be way out compared to what your value on each player is.

LJ just had a break out week but it was against a terrible run D in Denver. Now may be a good time to shop him? as his perceived value will have increased greatly after this performance.

Good point - thanks English. I had a decent week, but lost more ground. grrrrr

My IDP guys just are not showing up. I thought Shobel would have some sacks against St Louis this week!

I should be able to get a decent draft pick for Colston too.

You want to trade the best RB in football? Seriously, if you do for whatever reason, no matter what, GUT THE OTHER TEAM. Milk them for everything and anything you can get. RB's win in Fantasy, and if you're going to hand over the gold standard, at least try to get something resembling fair value in return.
