I'm not calling for RAC's head yet, but his decision-making isn't helping his case.
And again, I think that we need to be looking at our inability to run the ball if we are looking to the solution to our offensive woes.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

So, it's DA's fault that we only rushed for 47 yards on 22 carries? That's 2.1 ypc if anyone cares. The pick at the end of the half cost us three points. Maybe if he reads it better he is able to hit an open reciever in the end zone (if there even was one open) for 7. The other pick didn't do anything to blow sure points, or give the Steelers sure points. Picks are never good, but until I hear more about it I'm not judging it.
Obviously, both the passing game and running game sucked. But, your not going to beat the Steelers with the running game. You have to keep trying to keep them honest and set up play-action passes; but you beat them in the air. The steelers played us like everybody else at the end of last year. (stop the run, take away the deep pass, and let DA try to beat you with his accuracy) DA was "OFF" just as he has been for the last 8 of 10 games. RAC made some more bone-headed decisions, just as he often does!
I'm not kicking either RAC or DA today, but I am lasing up my steel toed boots!

I agree and do not believe DA should be on the hot seat .. I also agree that it was no wheres near his fault we lost last night ... he was ONE PART OF THE PROBLEM ... no more and no less ... if u think he played well your crazy ... he didn't play bad but he certainly didn't play good .. he threw his short passes better than I have seen him at any time in his career .. well actually I mean his dump offs to his RB's cause some of his short passes were brutal .. I will re-watch the tape to confirm .. but off the top of my head i DISAGREE with U on these points ... Quote:
How many balls did DA throw below BE waist last night?
NONE .... wippie dooo ... *L* .. WTF is your point???
Quote:
He threw one ball that was just behind him when he came out of the break. He has to catch those balls. I want to point out that it was blowing pretty hard, which does effect the throw.
2 things on this play ... but let me say first that BREY STUNK AGAIN ... he is not even playing close to good ...
1. U say the wind was blowing hard so DA had to put extra mustard on it .. i concur ... and i DO NOT FAULT DA FOR A BAD PASS .... now on the other hand U want to say Brey has to catch that pass .. well dude he came out of his break and the ball was ON HIM .. and slightly behind him .. VERY VERY TOUGH CATCH ... its hard to catch a perfect pass when U turn your head and its there ... well its VERY VERY HARD when u have to catch a ball when it is on you as soon as u see it and then U have to ADJUST to it period .. much less when u have to adjust to it being behind U ... thats the TOUGHEST ADJUSTMENT to make on any pass .. much less a rocket that is on U ASAP when u get your head around ..
am I going to blame DA for than one .. NOPE ... way to HARSH IMO
but blaming Brey is just as HARSH ....
just a tough play to make on both ends and it was just a missed connection ..
2. u say we ran way to much especially on 1st down ... yet here u are giving DA a pass cause of the wind .. witch is it bro???
Quote:
He threw all those little short outs and dump off passes very well. He also threw a beautiful slant to Edwards.
2 things again ....
1. what about the slant he threw to end the 1st half??? that was HORRIBLE on EVERY SINGLE LEVEL ... every single thing u could do wrong he did ...
Pre Snap read ... NOPE .. my guess is we were looking to throw the fade to Brey .. gives us either a TD or time to kick the FG .. he looks and see the CB back on the goal line .. Opps . the fade ain't there ..
Accurate?? NOPE .. well unless U wanted to hit Troy ..
Ooops .. time to go ... be back later to finish ..
2. he almost got Brey KILLED on that perfect slant to him ... was it a great pass .. YUP ... was it a drop by Brey .. YUP ... he has to catch that ball and he droped it before he got killed .. but u do not set your recievers up like that .. u LED HIM TO THE SLAUGHTER ...
so even though it was a perfect pass as U said .. it was a HORRIBLE DECISION ... ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ....
be back later my friend ...
bet u can't wait ...

Someone else complained on how Braylon has to catch balls below his waist. I just was disputing that. We are just talking about last night's game.

You're right, it was harsh. I guess I'm guilty of doing to BE that some are doing to DA.

He didn't throw a slant to BE at the end of the first half. It was the 1st I believe.

Actually I think it was for Steptoe. I didn't see it as a bad throw (I'm talking about placement) but it was a very dumb read. It's easy to sit here in Youngstown and see Polomolu sitting on the route, but he should have been able to see it also.

The 2nd slany BE dropped because he was hit before the ball got there. He didn't get killed.
I think you mean the deep post he ran and DA threw it up for him to get. I don't blame BE for that drop because he did get hammered. In fact, he got hammered with a helmet when the safety came over and put his head down.

I'm not giving all of the fault to DA. I just think you aren't giving him any. There is plenty of blame to go around. The lack of a running game. The clock management. Dropped balls and last but not least poor QB play.
I don't think it is time to pull DA yet and I also am not in the fire RAC camp. I just think that a lot of the people that defend these guys defend them rather blindly. There is noway you can ignore the negative in DA's game and say it didn't contribute to the lose. Just like when he plays good and people give all the credit to the receivers or Chud.

Whole lot of blame being spread around and for good reason. In my opinon, everybody is right, DA isnt consistant, BE is dropping balls, Jamal cant break free, nobody is scared of Step toe or Sanders linning up opposet BE, Winslow is our only legit threat an he cant do it all. RAC is looking like a rookie coach, Chud isnt creating he's working with what is healthy, Stallworth I said it when we signed him, Injury prone, check out his career with the Saints, Eagles & NE, waste of money. We miss JJ alot.........NO ALOT.... Players need to stop worring about contracts, agents, TV shows, and start consintrating on Football & football alone 0-2 is not a death record it is overcome able but it's not gonna be easy and worring about $$$$ is only gonna make it harder. RAC has to kick some of these guys in the keester's. If BE keeps dropping bench his behind, Stallworth injured cut him, I've played just as much WR in the NFL this year as Stallworth 0....ZERO..were paying him also....Play hurt or sit out on somebody elses sidelines. Offensive looks soft, line included.

DA SHOULD be on the hot seat and he should've been competing for his job from the very beginning.
Simply put, he's played like crap. His accuracy has been all over the place and the leadership just hasn't been there. Many of the DA apologists will point to the increased level of competition but let me ask this: are the teams we played playoff caliber? Do we not expect to be playoff caliber this year? Unlike DA did last year, he can't just beat up on cupcakes and expect that to be acceptable... it doesn't seem he's able to take the next step thus far.
Everyone on this team should be held accountable and DA is certainly no exception, especially given that, unlike others that have struggled like Edwards, we have a very capable backup in Quinn. Unfortunately, we've painted ourselves into a corner with the DA situation and it's pretty clear we're sticking with him, for better or worse.
In the end, I think we're going to look back at the decision to keep both QBs without a QB battle as one of the bigger mistakes of the Savage/Crennel era.
We're... we're good?

Seems like a lot of Browns QBs take a lot of heat because BE can't catch the damn ball. How many did Frye bounce off Braylon before being run out of town? Not to be given DA a clean slate because he was supposed to have the arm to throw through the Cleveland winds. Ben didn't seem to have to much trouble.

*LOL* .. so u thought he played good last night due to the conditions .. same thing bro .. well i don't agree ... he really hurt us at the end of the 1st half ... slice it dice it say whatever U want .. HE HURT US with that decision/pass ... and I am in now way blaming him for this loss .. NO WAY ... thats part of your problem .. your trying to defend a guy that did not play well to a bunch of dolts that are way over reacting .. that in and of itself makes U stretch things .. he didn't play bad .. but he cartainly did not play well EVEN UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES ...
keep your argument to he threw his underneath stuff to the RB's very well and showed huge improvement in that area .. but other than that .. your trying to defend a guy that is really in defensible for 2 reasons ..
1. he doesn't need defended to anyone with a clue ....
2. he didn't play good bro ..

well there u go bro ... why u bothering to defend him with aqusations like that .. whoever said that is obviously just knee jerking ...

I expect more from U bro ... and that is what this will u do to U ...
gotta run again ...
the pick to end the 1st half was to Steptoe .. and it was a BRUTAL pass also .. the ball was well behind Steptoe .. now Steptoe may have cut the route off cause he saw Troy coming up but he did what he was suppose to .. IT WAS A BRUTAL THROW ... cause even if he had cut across .. it still would have been behind him ..
do U have the game taped ... is so and u want to .. we can go through it pass by pass and talk about it ... let me know ...
and donlt worry ... cause now we have the Rats and Bungles up .. he will look much better .... there alot closer to the teams we played all of last year as opposed to the stilers ...

Braylon's drops are definitely troubling and he certainly should be taking a ton of flack for them but DA was absolutely horrendous. I think the comparison you made between DA and Ben is the exact one to make after the game. Both are supposedly Pro Bowl caliber QBs, but one of them threw a bunch of bad passes and picks while the other, while he wasn't perfect, managed the game just fine. I think it shows us where DA is really at in reality.
We're... we're good?

I'm not going to go through this thread and read everything, but I'll just put my two cents out there.
Derek Anderson was a Pro-Bowl QB. He should to be able to manage the clock a lot better than he did last night. Some of that also falls on Romeo and the playcalling. Also, the INT before half was rediculous. No it didn't give Pittsburgh any points, but it kept us from getting at least 3 points before half. If we lose to the Bengals and Ravens then I'm calling for Romero and DA's head. Not yet, but this kind of play is stuff you see in high school (from where I'm from---where lineman are 150lbs.)

The part I find ironic is that last year DA was given alot of the credit for our success in the running game ... now this year it is hurting him ... *LOL* ..
its also pretty funny seeing many folks that were riding his jock all off season jumping ship after just two games that DA did not play that bad in .. he hasnlt done anything real good but he hasn't done anything all that horrible yet either ..
the good news is that next week and the week after they will all be back on his jock ..

I think that DA is exactly what he is. He is a 2nd year starter who missed most of training camp playing with a depleted WR corps.
I think that DA made some good throws last night and he made some bad ones. Rewatching the game right now and the timing of his mistakes really makes it seem worse than it was. DA was stand up in his post game and for those that were talking about him smiling, if you watch his post game presser you could tell he was dissappointed.
People need to give DA a little bit of slack, RAC is a different story

Funny DA missing time in TC and playing with a depleted recieving corps is a good reason to cut him some slack in your opinion .. yet those same things don't affect RAC's team and therefore how hes evaluated ... *LOL* ...
... funny how that works ...

J/C. I blame Steptoe for not keeping his foot inbounds on the beautiful run cross field and up the sideline. Had he not stepped out we would not even have some of these threads. Can Steptoe!

It was Harrison.
You guys are killing me.
What I can't understand is wht the heck are we throwing slants to Syndric Steptoe anywhere near their only good DB? Put Winslow on one side, BE on the other, and toss it up to whomever doesn't have Troy on them! How hard is that?

Hey! I want the HC fired and the QB benched BUT... Iwanted that last year too!
I think RAC is the worst HC in the league sometimes... DA might turn around RAC won't.
TERRIBLE Clock management UNPREPARED Players UNDISCIPLINED Players POOR Play Clalling on the TWO field goals.
RAC needs to get his act together.
DA might be better than Quinn BUT I'm ready to see QUINN! I know what DA is capable of.

by no means am I convinced that DA is or will become the QB that we need but I believe he will be given a chance to develop further, as in, half the season. If he's not any better by then expect to see Quinn. Could actually come after the bye week if DA lays an egg against the Ravens or Cincy but if he looks good then he'll remain the starter.until he has a complete meltdown for multiple games. Some of you may say he's already had that but in all fairness he had no time against Dallas. He did, however, make some blunders against Pitt from what I hear. idn't get to watch the game due to the mini hurricane knocking out the cable for 6 hours.

BE has pulled off some miracle catches in the past. You can not expect him to always do that.
If the ball was in front of him more often and at chest level or above more often you wouldn't see so many drops. He not only has to get separation but he also has to locate the ball before catching it. RARELY is it place where it should be.
I think BE shook off the rest of the rust in this game. He'll be in game form from here on out. Missing Preseason took it's toll.
I think the injuries we are suffering also is a reflection on RAC's inability to have these guys in playing form for the begining of the season. All I ever hear is how much they work out year round. But as soon as the pads go on they drop like flies!
Strength & Conditoning... That's what they call it RAC.

heheh! I was being sarcastic. Regardless of who ran the play. I just think it is silly to rack and torture DA at this point. Not that it may not be deserved in the future if the playcalling or the execution does not make a turnaround in this next couple games. All in all I thought the D played a great game up until the last few minutes. Come up with a stop there guys! I also thought when the D gave up the long pass play when we had them pinned in at the Stoolers own 2 that the game was pretty much over. Woulda coulda shoulda.

My .02 about the end of the first half. Bad read by DA, but a squarely put some of the blame for it on RAC for putting him and the offense into a difficult bind. Knowing there is only 8 seconds left and you have to act quickly to get the play off and still be able to stop the clock for a field goal if you don't get the TD. It forced a mistake. Should've just kicked the field goal instead of trying to make chicken salad out of chicken .
Brown's fan since 2004...the tradition continues.

Sorry, but I totally disagree. MANY teams go for it in that situation. It wasn't a forced bad decision. DA has to know to throw it out of the end zone to stop the clock. You don't have to find a way to stop the clock if you don't get in the end zone. You throw to the end zone to an open receiver or you chuck it 10 rows deep. It was the right call, but poorly executed.

Right....but by the receiver.....sorry dude...the qb isn't able to look to see if the guy is on the 2 or just inside the endzone.....it was a bad pass though...I don't argue that.......RAC still sucks.

Actually, the QB SHOULD know where the WR is. Isn't that his job, to throw to a spot? If you are going to answer no, then you have to take that up with Bernie. I'll just say that I'm glad that Savage is evaluating RAC and not you.

Sorry I'm about to do this, Dude... I'm going to use your post as an example of a very "typical" post here, of late. It's nothing personal in regards to you... I could have done this with any one of a couple hundred posts I've read since the start of the season. It all starts with a true statement: " BE has pulled off some miracle catches in the past. You can not expect him to always do that." While true., that statement isn"t just praise for a player whom the poster likes. It's also in fact a setup for the slam on the player this poster DOESN'T like. Here's the slam: " If the ball was in front of him more often and at chest level or above more often you wouldn't see so many drops. RARELY is it place where it should be." Pretty deft, there. In one sentence the poster has managed to excuse his boy, while simultaneously shifting blame to someone else. The sentence this time is not fact... rather, it is conjecture on his part. It withstands scrutiny by most posters, because many folks see it as a reasonble statement, without detecting the spin that is contained in it. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, as usual... but the truth is not really part of this poster's agenda. Facts: The QB has a history of consistency issues, but the WR has a history of consistency issues, as well. One gets a pass, the other does not. Next statement is a prediction and a pretty reasonable assumption: "I think BE shook off the rest of the rust in this game. He'll be in game form from here on out. Missing Preseason took it's toll. Well put. I totally agree. But then- where's the balance? No such assumption gets to be made about the QB? Apparently, 2 weeks out with a concussion isn't supposed to give this player some rust... no, it must be this player's fault that the WR isn't looking so good right now. Facts: Braylon drops balls. Face it. He drops balls that he has to reach for, he drops balls that hit him in the numbers, and he drops balls that are perfectly led. (Dallas 40-yarder, anyone?) Been the rap on him since college. DA has accuracy issues that pop up in almost every game. He'll throw laser strikes and then spray balls like a busted lawn sprinkler for a series or two. Ben the rap on him since college. Sound familiar? Two peas in a pod... yet only one gets licked for the juicy flavor he imparts. Truth- they both are who they are, and the rust is there between them because both missed time. Yet the poster seems willing to give BE a pass, while leaving the heat turned up nice and high under DA. Like I said: "typical." __________________ Then, there's the inevitable and almost obligatory "RAC must get heat" addendum... even though it's a thread about DA. **sigh** Here goes: " I think the injuries we are suffering also is a reflection on RAC's inability to have these guys in playing form for the beginning of the season. All I ever hear is how much they work out year round. But as soon as the pads go on they drop like flies!
Strength & Conditoning... That's what they call it RAC." Facts: 1. RB comes back to camp in the best physical shape he's been in for the last 4 years. Pulls a hammy in preseason. RAC's fault. 2. Safety leads with his helmet, knocks himself loopy with a concussion. RAC's fault. 3. Safety talks himself out of preseason arthroscopic surgery, then talks himself back into it just as the reg season begins. RAC's fault. 4. WR, known to be physically frail injures himself during pregame warmups. Somehow, it's RAC's fault. 5. KR gets rolled up upon at the end of a play. Limps to the sidline with a high ankle sprain. Yessir... gotta be RAC's fault for not having him in "playing form." All these flies that have dropped have done so in completely different ways, but there must be a common thread.... and that thread is ....the freakkin' Head Coach???? Does anybody else see how painfully ridiculous this is? Don't be fooled, Dawgs- it's just another setup/slam in action. Like I said at the outset, I'm not picking on the poster personally. I just latched onto this one because it was stereotypical of so many posts that come on this board after a tough loss. Folks need someone to blame, and they'll do anything to get it accomplished. They'll bend stats, play favorites, make assumptions and play fast and loose with the facts in an effort to justify their positions. Rarely does another poster convince them to see it another way, because many times that poster is practicing the exact same techniques. You can't bs a bs'er. And that, my friends is why this board is one big circle-jerk for 3 days after a Pittsburgh loss. It seems to take that long for posters to regain their common sense. Those who actually had some to begin with, that is. Look around for yourselves See just how many posts resemble this one. It'll have you shaking your heads, I promise. /rant, Clemdawg **whew!** I feel better now.

No he won't be replaced or demoted if he has another poor game.
What message does that send to the entire team?
That is not going to happen at any position at this point in the season. Are they going to bench or yank BE? Or the entire LB corps? Or at least a couple 0-lineman?
I'm glad that some of you are just fans and have no say. If not the Browns would be in a very bad way.

Clem, Perfect post. Loose to Pit, every one with a head set is a ahole! But there is enough blame to go around to the entire team.
