Earlier today the a.b.b. held an autograph session in Hartville with four former players. The line was pretty long. I was towards the back of it. I'm standing for about 45 minutes and this guy from the backers starts announcing that if you join their club today you get moved up to the front of the line.

At first it didn't bother me but after another 20 minutes or so I notice that I'm not moving at all. Little by little people pay the 25.00 fee and move up to the front, while the rest of us aren't gaining any ground getting closer. I eventually get frustrated, say my piece to the backers in charge and leave.

Why it bothers me so much is what about the people that got there earlier than people who didn't but get rewarded by not advancing in line because they didn't pay up. What if somebody had to be at work, got there early enough to get some autographs but never got the chance because people kept cutting in front of them and had to eventually leave because they would be late for work. What about families that don't have the 25.00 to pay and never got a chance because the two hours went by and the players left while they were still in line all because of the way the backers came up with this idea. I know they are trying to make money for their club, but this wasn't announced. They just came up with this bright idea on the spot, and left many people annoyed to keep getting passed up in line.
Sorry this is so long, but it really bothered me.

Don't be sorry. That's just a really bad situation which i'm sure left a real bad taste in your mouth for the Akron Browns Backers. Not cool at all. Everybody waits their turn, that's called fair. At some point cut the line off and say that no more people can get autographs, but nobody waiting in line should deal with that.

So yeah, you're in the right. Bad look for sure

That sucks... It would be one thing if they had announced that they were going to do that at the outset. Bush league move on their part.

Smart move by the Akron Browns Backers. I do not feel bad you spent time in line waiting on an autograph that probably only has value to someone who is a fan. Who were the people you were supposed to get an autograph from? Don't rant, these guys owe you nothing. Sorry it is an autograph session and if your foolish enough to fall into this ploy then you should execpt the consequences. Welcome to the game of life!

The point wasn't that they "owed" him something; if they were going to charge a fee for the autographs, they should have just been up front about it instead of wasting some fans' time.

The players were Tom Cousineau, Hanford Dixon, Felix Wright and Tim Manoa. When you stand in line, you stand in line and wait your turn.
It's wrong to come up with an idea that if you pay us, you can jump the line and get to the front without it being advertised. They made their group look bad doing this.

Would you like to stand in line and have people keep getting to cut in front of you? If this was announced then fine, we all would know. But to come up with this on a spur of the moment thing is wrong.

I asked the head person of the backers group and he said it wasn't his idea and looked like he felt bad about it. But if you are running this group then why didn't he step up and say this is a dumb thing to do?

If it's the game of life and you don't feel bad for me, then continue to let people rip you off and take advantage of you. Aren't we already being taken advantage of with gas prices and such? If you feel fine with these acts, it's your life. Do what you want, but I won't stand for it. It's just more greed, and now it has trickled down to a simple autograph session.

I feel bad for you to let people do these things and not do anything about it..

I'm going to compare this to standing in line at say Toys R Us for example at christmas time. Both of these lines would be long. You're standing there and all of a sudden the store manager comes out and says if anybody applies for a credit card and gets approved, you may move to the front of the line. Of course this gives incentive for people to apply and not wait in line and for Toys R Us to make some money on the interest on the card.

If you didn't want the card, or didn't have the credit to get one wouldn't you be a little ticked off that people keep getting the right to jump you in line?
I think you would.

This isn't life or death here, I just posted this because it was a bad move by them. Just another way to screw people over and I'm sick of it.
