The English Premiere League starts this weekend, and Villa pretty much mirrors the Browns in exciting potential. While they probably aren't the leagues best, they are definitely poised to take the next big step forward.

Where are my Lerner-era Villa fans at? I know a few of you still lurk around here. Pretty big month free-agent wise for AV. Picked up two American goal keepers! Then completely revamped the defense, getting two solid fullbacks (finally a right back!) and the Scottish Player of the Year in Carlos Cuellar. I think the defense is much improved. If Villa can continue to put goals in like they did last year, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

The new defense will help, especially with Brad/Brad in goal. I lost track of the number of goals that AV gave up in the last 5 minutes of games last year.

i'm also excited about the premier league starting up. i'm finally able to watch games after getting Fox Soccer Channel last year. i root for manchester united. i know, i know, i don't want to because i feel like they're the yankees and red sox rolled into one, but i'm drawn to them plus they're always on so i can follow them. besides, i think chelsea is much more like the yankees than man u, so that makes it better right? i also started rooting for fulham last year due to all of the americans on the team, plus i needed another team to root for to feel better about supporting man u. they finished strong and were able to just barely avoid relegation. hopefully they'll do better this season.

Shame Bouma went down, but Shorey and Young should handle well. The 'Boro fans seems pretty upset that they sold Young, so hopefully he's as good as they're making him out to be.

It's been a pretty good summer transfer period, that's for sure. Looking forward to seeing the Brad/Brad in goal, I'm still surprised Friedel was signed.

I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

Like last year, I will be paying as much attention as I can to Aston Villa. I even plan on going over to watch a game with some of the Brits I met in Peru - sometime late in the season.

I wish it were easier to get product on this side of the pond. Would love a sweatshirt or something.

Rangers fans are also upset that they lost Cuellar ... who some say carried the Rangers to their cup final last year. Reading fans are disappointed that they lost Shorey, but pretty much expected it since they got relegated.

Always good to get players that other teams hate to lose.

Getting the best player from the Scottish League is akin to the Tribe getting the best player in Triple A.

I actually have paid zero attention to what has went on in the offseason. I will have to start keeping up with Arsenal again.

You say that like it's a bad thing ... I would love for the Tribe to get the best player in Triple A

We did, his name is Laporta, the point is I am not sure if this is going to have that much of a impact in the EPL. My buddy is a die hard Celtic fan though so I am sure he is happy about it. Maybe the Triple A analogy doesnt really fit here. Ok getting the best player from the SPL is like the Browns getting the best player from the Canadien League.
