http://blog.cleveland.com/plaindealer/2008/07/fbi_searching_cuyahoga_county.htmlUp to 200 FBI and IRS agents served at least 10 search warrants this morning at various Cuyahoga County offices and multiple residences as part of a public corruption investigation.
Officials said the searches are part of a long-term investigation.
Businesses and residences, including Commissioner Jimmy Dimora's, were searched as well.
http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/07/cleveland_councilman_loses_hou.htmlCleveland Councilman Joe Cimperman's house was nearly destroyed this morning by fire.
Police and firefighters were called at 2:20 a.m. to the 3050 block of West 12th Street, where the front of the house was engulfed in flames.
No one was injured.
Fire spokesman Larry Gray said the blaze may have been set. An arson investigation is under way.
Cimperman, sweeping glass and debris from his driveway this morning, said he awoke to neighbors pounding on his door.
"It's scary. What are you going to do?" he said.
He said he will take his week-old daughter, Maeve, to a doctor today to make sure she's OK.
Cleveland police officers will guard Cimperman and his house, if the fire is determined to be arson, Chief Michael McGrath said. He visited the fire scene about 9 this morning.
