I have a six yr old son that I am trying to get to like football. Not forceing it on him just trying to get him interested in it. Well I have suceeded, he loves playing flag football, and watching football on tv.

Well he also is a bandwagon fan, LOL, because he says he likes whatever team is winning at the moment. Well he saw the steelers beat us twice last year now when he grows up he wants to play in the nfl, and play for the STEELERS. I have lost him, hopefully I can pull him away from the darkside.

Most young kids are bandwagon fans. When I was 10, most of the kids at school were Cowboys fans.

Haha, I remember in first grade when everyone wanted to be Jerry Rice and Joe Montana.

Well I reformed from a Broncos fan when I was four....so here's the story:

It's 1989 right after the back to back playoff losses, when i decided that I was going to become a Broncos fan and that John Elway was my favorite. It was around christmas time, and since I knew my dad hated the broncos, i didn't tell them anything, up until I got on Santa's lap and said:

"I want this and this and this ..... but most of all, the only thing i really want, is a broncos uniform, with a helmet and pants and most of all, a John Elway jersey" (or at least a 4 year old version of that) So my dad had a choice, he could either clamp down his teeth and buy the jersey, or he could destroy his first borns' faith in the magical.....

So I no longer believe in Santa.

But that's not the point, he hunkered down and bought the jersey. So I decided to twist the knife a little more, and declared that this was my favorite present of everything I got, and because of that, I was going to pick that as the present I got to take with me to church.

So we go to church, where (since nobody every goes for the christmas service), instead of a sermon they have the "blessing of the toys" where it's a prolonged children's time and the paster talks about how Jesus is the biggest gift etc. etc. and then they bless all the toys.

The pastor is going around the group, takes one look at my jersey....

And refused to bless it.

I would like to take this opportunity to state that I was never a bandwagon fan and never will be

I have supported ALL Cleveland teams since I was old enough to know what sports were. I only lived in Cleveland for 4 years (when I was 3-7).

You have failed as a parent. Your son should be taken from you and be given to a family where he can be re-educated into becoming a Browns fan. Well, at the very least, trained not to be a Steelers fan.

When my son was three his great aunt bought him a Tennesse Vols t-shirt. He wore it all the time. Thankfully, the reason was because it was orange, the color of the Browns.

He received a post card and autographed helmet ftom Jo Pa when he was 5 or 6. He refused to watch Penn State games, or even cheer for them. His only love was the Buckeyes. I brainwashed him err..Trained him well.

funny....I remember when my yougest brother was watching the browns play the chargers one year with my dad and I....we won I think in OT as I recall...Sipe hit Harry Holt with a long pass at the end I think...anyway...he loved the uniforms of the chargers so he started rooting for them....we just let it go and sure enough about two years later, like the rest of us, he started bleeding brown and orange....

I second the beating idea.

You completely screwed up. Kids today aren't raised properly, and here's a perfect example.

If that doesn't work, you're gonna have to put him in juvey, or even up for adoption.

How funny. My nephew was the same way growing up - I would see Bengals, Eagles, etc. hats/jerseys every time I saw him.

Ha. The next time you take him to a Browns - Steelers game, make him go sit with the Steelers fans and an Aunt/Uncle/Neighbor/Friend he doesn't like (to keep an eye on him), and you sit over in the Dawg Pound. He'll change his mind reeeeeeaaaaal fast LOL

Lol some great and disturbing ideas. I just took him to my dads house and we as a family started the steeler bashing so hopefully he gets on board. I really think WHEN we beat the steelers the second week it will help my cause, the funny thing is he loves wearing his edwards jersey. If by the end of the season he is not a browns fan I don't know what I will do.

I also do not want to force him to like them because I think he should be allowed to like whatever teams he wants, it just blows my mind that he would not like the browns, what not to like?

Also yes brad I did go to and play football for the tornadoes. Graduated in 99.

It's all his mom's fault....LOL...Ya might wanna take him in for a head ex-ray, sounds like he took a mean knock to the head..

He will come around, but if he dosent you can always tell him you cant claim him as a son if he's a Steeler fan, or take him out and tell him you were gonna buy him a new bike orsomething but you dont waste money on Steeler fans....

Go to the video tape! Show him Bernie destroying the Steelers. Just don't show him too much. He might become a Broncos fan.

My 4 year old daughter has a little crush on this boy at her preschool. The boy is from a family that likes the Yankees and the Steelers... so she said she likes them too.

So this is what worked for me. First I loaded up her room with Browns/Cavs/Indians stuff... then I started playing subliminal messages in her room at night while she's sleeping... then I told her that little boy was retarded and that he eats live worms and plays with his own poop. She wore her Browns jersey to school last Thursday.

Just tell him if he was on a team and they weren't doing so hot he couldn't just switch teams (well, explain trades and FA doesn't work in pee wee football ) and there is only ONE team in that house, THE Cleveland Browns!

And if he doesn't get it still, make him sleep in the attic

I would like to say that he was also a Blue Jay's fan after their World Series wins, and he corrupted me, his younger brother to be one too.

But it's ok he's alright now....
