Ohio mayor arrested, accused of threatening to shoot council member

RIVERSIDE, Ohio—Authorities say the mayor of a suburban Dayton city was arrested and released after he allegedly threatened to shoot a city council member.
Riverside Councilman Edward Schock says he filed an aggravated menacing complaint with police on Saturday after a phone conversation he had with Riverside Mayor Johnie Doan Friday night.

Schock says Doan made the threats because he was upset over the handling of a city business matter. Schock says he and his wife felt they were in danger.

According to Montgomery County Jail records, Doan was booked at about 1 a.m. Sunday and released on bond. Doan has not been formally charged.

Schock and Doan were successful running mates in the last election.

Riverside is four miles east of Dayton
