As some of you know I work in a children's hospital... working there I have to deal with a lot of kids who are sick and dying... I've delt with a lot of kids dying recently, but one of my all-time favorite patient's is losing his battle with cancer.

He is 9 y/o and basically got a brain tumor that metastasized to his spine about a year ago which left his as a quadriplegic... he did radiation and chemo and went into remission for awhile.... but a couple of months ago on a routine scan they saw some more spots on his bones... basically his cancer spread to his bone marrow and throughout the rest of his body... on thursday he told his mom that he was really tired and then a couple hours later his eyes rolled up into his head and he has been unresponsive sense. He'll open his eyes at times but has a blank stare and he is unable to speak now...

my prayer request is for him to pass on with dignity and as pain free as possible... I ask for prayers that he not be scared as he passes on to the afterlife... and I ask for prayers for his mother who is one of the most loving people I have ever met in my life... and I ask that they be helped financially as they are already behind in their bills and have the prospect of having to pay for a funeral ahead...

You have my condolences. Working in a Childrens Hospital has to be a hard thing to experience day after day. You and the child are in my prayers.

I am thankful everyday to have two healthy happy children. I'm also thankful for people like you Jay - I know it's a job I could never do.

Two charities I give to regularly are St. Jude's and the Childrens Cancer Fund. Nothing is more precious than a childs life.

Sent. You are a special person Jay and I respect what you do, since I couldn't handle a job such as yours especially in situations like this. You sir are a special person and not only do I feel for him and his family, I also feel for you. Thank you for the job you do. You have heart, and for that I admire you and the issues you deal with. Thank you for the care and love you give, you have my respect.

Jay, I admire what people who work with terminally ill children do. It's a tough job, and I couldn't do it. Prayers are with you, the child, and the family.

It takes a special person to do what you do for a living.
I couldn't do it. I'd be a basket case in no time.

My prayers will go out to him, his soul, his friends, family and finances.

Man, that's tough. That's the worst thing to hear about. I'm sorry that any child and any mother or father has to go through something like that. I give you a lot of respect as a nurse in dealing with sick and dying children and their families.

I will remember him in my prayers tonight along with his family- and all the children and their families who are going through similar situations right now. Thanks for sharing that, Jay.

Thanks for the prayers all... I talked to my patient's mom last night for awhile and I think myself and a few others from the hospital are going to go visit him today and just spend sometime with his mom. Thankfully she told me that she has had really good family support... thanks again for all your prayers

On the way, Jay. I know it's hard. I got to know a lot of adults, elderly and kids when I worked for Hospice and in long term care and it was so painful at some points. I know you know the joy you also get out of it, but these times are sometimes almost unbearable.

Like I have told you many times, you are a genuine good guy man. How you can deal with watching children fight with these horrible diseases and death, man, I never could.

I wish there was a rule that said cancer couldn't infect children. Cancer period is a horrible, horrible disease and I wish it didn't effect anyone period, but when it hits children it really sucks b/c they are so young with so much left to discover and experience and this disease takes that all away from them. My grandfather died from prostate and lung cancer and I watched as he got sicker and was the shell of the man he once was. That had a big effect on me. No matter what “troubles” you may be facing today, God has promised to deliver you! And notice this verse doesn’t say He’s going to deliver you from “some” of your troubles—“if you say and do everything perfectly.” No, if you are righteous today, God promises to deliver you from all of your troubles. How do you know if you are righteous? When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, when you accept His forgiveness and believe He is working in your life, then you are righteous. Your faith and belief in the goodness of God is His righteousness at work in your heart. The Bible says in Romans 4, that “Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness.” If you are facing troubles today, expect that God has a way of escape for you. Expect that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Meditate on this verse and let it sink deep into your heart. Know that God is good and He is your Deliverer today. Believe in His goodness and faithfulness and He will deliver you into the life of victory that He has planned!

Heavenly Father, thank you for making me righteous by the blood of Jesus. I receive Your promises and choose to believe that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. Thank You for being my Deliverer today and always! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
