I'm not sure who the RB will but it needs to be a priority now in order to make it a more balanced O. My guess is they will make that somewhat of a priority in the draft.

They should take two RBs in this draft considering the class. One of the RBs being with one of their 6th round pick or a move up to the 5th round and one earlier in the draft.
[quote=OCD][quote=Damanshot]Just clicking, any bets on them Trading down from the 2nd, pick up a few more picks and then take Dart?
After I put up that post about Dart, I read that KS loves Milroe..
I always wonder who "leaks out" info like this or if KS said it during an on-camera interview. I can't help but think that 95% of these "takes" by reporters are just bait to throw the team's true intentions off.
Probably so.

Defiantly so. I don't ever recall a coach or FO type saying they don't like a player.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Tanking implies that we did it on purpose Wew are not picking #2 because we tanked We are picking #2 because we sucked We are picking #2 because we played like #2
They tanked at the end of last season. When they started DTR and Bailey Zappe over Winston they were tanking.
Agreed. We tanked benching Winston for those other two.
I also agree...but Winston did reportedly have a shoulder injury...likely BS tho. Weird how the Winston flame blew out like it did.
I'm happy because now we won't be trading for Cousins.
I can understand people thinking this.
... but... do we feel that Flacco would be better than Cousins? I don't (though neither are going to be anywhere near "the answer" as neither are world-beaters).
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
And we didn't have to give up draft capitol either. We need all the picks we have and then some.
Yes, I feel much better about not drafting a mediocre QB at #2. We can do better (Maybe Hunter?) and draft/trade for a QB next year. This was a smart move. Fans are happy and they can draft BPA.
I'm mostly playing devil's advocate here... but does Flacco being re-signed REALLY mean we're not going QB at 2?
-We got Pickett for a 5th -We got Flacco on day 29 of 2025 FA
That doesn't exactly scream "we're set at QB".

I don't believe it's a "case closed" scenario. No matter who or where they draft a QB, considering the weak draft class at QB, any QB they draft will need time to develop. I think they needed a veteran QB to play the role of mentor to any QB they drafted. I think this being a weak QB class in general meant they probably didn't have any intention of drafting a QB at #2 from the very beginning. And the statement by Haslam indicating it may take time to find a QB indicates that as well. Sure that could be a smokescreen too.
But I don't think anyone should rule out drafting a QB at #2. As long as that QB doesn't end up being #2. It seems drafting a QB that high in a weak QB class leans to it favoring more possible risk than reward. But then we never know for sure how they have these QB's valued or ranked.
I don't believe they really feel that either Flacco or Cousins would lead this team to the playoffs and even if they did it would be more likely a one and done scenario. I believe their #1 priority was signing a great mentor for a young QB. And in terms of not having to give up draft capital as well as a much lower salary Flacco seemed like the best way to accomplish that. I tend to agree with them.
It seems to me they have done a good job in terms of having a poker face and hiding their hand in regards to this draft.

I think we feel that neither raises the ceiling enough to justify parting ways with future assets. Only one fit that bill.
Let's face it the 2025 season is not going to end with confetti hitting the streets in Cleveland but a competitive team that with a few breaks could sneak into a wildcard playoff spot is possible. This team does not need to tank for a QB it needs to win as many games as possible. Winning breeds more winning and losing breeds more losing. Win as many games as possible and build the best QB room as possible until the team is ready to compete for the AFC North title and if a team can win the AFC North, they can win the Superbowl.
Joe Flacco is a very good get. What he did in 2023 coming off the couch was incredible. He should have been brought back last year. This year he actually gets a chance to attend all the mini camps, OTA's, and training camp. What is huge for the Browns is a real professional QB will attend all of those camps and can help build a culture with the other players on the team. Having a veteran presence that is also the adult in the room that Stefanski has needed will be huge for this team in the years to come. Pickett is there to be a long term back up and his job is to push the entire room to be better because he has aspirations to start again in the NFL. Now you have a QB that has won and knows what winning looks like and a backup pushing to be a starter. Add a rookie like Tyler Shough, Will Howard, or Kyle McCord to that mix and the QB room will grow and be ready for next year to hopefully add that franchise QB like Drew Allar.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
I'm also a "You play the game to win" guy. On the other hand I have watched the NFL long enough to know that you don't just add a name like "Tyler Shough, Will Howard, or Kyle McCord to that mix and the QB room will grow". The vast majority of the time that doesn't work.
And if you win many games this year the top two or three QB's in next years draft wont be there at your pick. It's not a simple or cut and dry situation. If it were anyone could be an NFL GM.

Two running backs go round the outside Round the outside, round the outside Two running backs go round the outside Round the outside, round the outside Woo (Ooh, ooh)
I don't think teaching our players to square dance will be helpful.
Couldn't be much worse than last year. Maybe if we are worse, we could get the #1 pick and draft a certain .... Manning.

Arch Manning will be eligible to put his name in for the draft next year. But he has stated already he plans to stay in college 4 years just like Peyton and Eli did. I do not expect him to come out even if Texas wins the Natty.
